On the way to Rome

We leave at 6.42 from Brescia with a high speed train to Rome. In just 4h we will be in Rome ready to explore the city.
A first walk in the city

After a short stop at the hotel for check-in we started our of the city with a brief walk through the center heading to our first stop... A good restaurant for lunch! :)
A first look at Colosseum

On our way from the hotel to the city center, we passed by the amazing Colosseum. It's the perfect way to get immediately into the Rome atmosphere and start our short visit of the city.
Refresh before lunch

After about an hour walking around we stopped briefly for a refreshing drink ... A bit of relax before lunch :)
Quirinale

Palazzo Chigi & Montecitorio

Tempio di Adriano

Walking through the city center we passed nearby this ancient Roman temple. It is fascinating how history is embedded in every place of the city with ancient buildings melted in the modern structures.
Chiesa di S.Ignazio di Loyola

Moving toward the Pantheon, we visited this Jesuits church. The inside has amazing decorations all around including a stunning ceiling fresco. Another hidden gem of Rome.
Pantheon

The pantheon was an ancient temple dedicated to all gods, then turned into a church and now hosting tombs of many famous artists and the first kings of Italy. The circular structure creates aもっと詳しく

Walk along the river

Moving toward Castel Sant'Angelo we took a walk along the Tevere River. The river side is not that well maintained, but the river lazily moving through the city anyway has a special atmosphere. Aもっと詳しく

Before arriving at San Pietro, we passed by Castel Sant'Angelo to have a quick look at this fortress that used to be a refuge for the Pope in the moment of war. Unfortunately there is so much to seeもっと詳しく

We finally reached the stunning San Pietro square and the basilica which are the main symbols of the Catholic church. The view in the square is amazing and the inner part of the church is also hugeもっと詳しく
Refreshing drink before dinner

After finishing our first day of tour, we stopped briefly for a refreshing drink waiting for dinner. A great first day and a well deserved moment of relaxation.
Dinner @ Vecchia roma

We booked dinner at Osteria Vecchia Roma. An amazing place where they serve local cuisine and huge portions. A tasty, delicious dinner with porchetta iconic pasta of Roman tradition.
Piazza del popolo

We walked from Circo Massimo to Altare della Patria and along the street you can see ancient history blending with modern streets and houses. Rome has a really fascinating atmosphere

Quick brunch stop

A quick stop for brunch, to relax a bit and replenish our energy for the afternoon. A tasty energizing stop in the center of Rome.
Domus Aurea

In the afternoon we planned a guided tour in the Domus Aurea. This is nowadays an underground tour to explore what remains of the ancient huge building made by emperor Nerone as his house. The placeもっと詳しく
