    After a short stop at the hotel for check-in we started our of the city with a brief walk through the center heading to our first stop... A good restaurant for lunch! :)

  • A first look at Colosseum

    On our way from the hotel to the city center, we passed by the amazing Colosseum. It's the perfect way to get immediately into the Rome atmosphere and start our short visit of the city.

  • Refresh before lunch

    After about an hour walking around we stopped briefly for a refreshing drink ... A bit of relax before lunch :)

  • Quirinale

    After a great lunch at Osteria Vicolo 9, our first stop is at Quirinale, an official residency of the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella. Unfortunately we couldn't enter the palace, but just being at the place makes you think of all the official state ceremonies.Read more

    After the Quirinale palace, we walked through the ancient center of Rome to reach the iconic Trevi fountain. The small square is always quite crowded, but admiring this amazing landmark in the great spring weather is a fantastic experience.Read more

    Walking through the city center we passed nearby this ancient Roman temple. It is fascinating how history is embedded in every place of the city with ancient buildings melted in the modern structures.

    Moving toward the Pantheon, we visited this Jesuits church. The inside has amazing decorations all around including a stunning ceiling fresco. Another hidden gem of Rome.

    The pantheon was an ancient temple dedicated to all gods, then turned into a church and now hosting tombs of many famous artists and the first kings of Italy. The circular structure creates a particular atmosphere and you can perceive a vibrant mix of ancient memories, arts and Italy history.Read more

    Just before entering Piazza Navona, we stopped briefly to see the last of the institutional buildings, palazzo Madama which host the Senate assembly. Just a quick look from the outside, to complete our visit across the places where the government happens.Read more

    We keep walking through the city and we reach Piazza Navona, a fascinating large square where you can admire famous landmarks such as obelisk and the Neptune fountain. Walking through Rome is amazing since you encounter a fantastic view after the other.Read more

  • Walk along the river

    Moving toward Castel Sant'Angelo we took a walk along the Tevere River. The river side is not that well maintained, but the river lazily moving through the city anyway has a special atmosphere. A relaxing walk toward our next iconic stop.Read more

    We finally reached the stunning San Pietro square and the basilica which are the main symbols of the Catholic church. The view in the square is amazing and the inner part of the church is also huge and permeated by a spiritual atmosphere.Read more

    We booked dinner at Osteria Vecchia Roma. An amazing place where they serve local cuisine and huge portions. A tasty, delicious dinner with porchetta iconic pasta of Roman tradition.

    The second day starts from Piazza del popolo. A vast square with twin cathedrals, a fountain and statues all around. The place is often used for events and unluckily there was one just before our arrival so part of the square was occupied by stands.Read more

    We then walked to the next iconic landmark, namely Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti. This is an amazing architectural piece a huge monumental stair starting with a beautiful fountain. The view of the city from the top is fascinating.Read more

    The next stop in today's tour was Circo massimo. This used to be a huge place for events and games back in ancient Rome, able to host up to 300k people. The place is now a huge free area where events are still organised. It's amazing to think about how this place should have been in the past.Read more

    Altare della Patria is another iconic stop in Rome. It celebrated the king Vittorio Emanuele II and the Italian nation. The monument is huge with a solemn atmosphere even if packed with tourists all day. A nice view of the city from the top repays you for climbing up under the sun.Read more

    In the afternoon we planned a guided tour in the Domus Aurea. This is nowadays an underground tour to explore what remains of the ancient huge building made by emperor Nerone as his house. The place is really fascinating including a VR tour to have an idea of how the area looked in the past. A really great experience, a hidden gem of Rome.Read more
