    We are ready to leave for this week of nature and relax in Zanzibar. Our first step is a 5h flight to Dubai and then connection to Zanzibar. We take a quick bite before boarding and we are ready to go!Read more

  • Transit in Dubai

    We now have a few hours to spend in Dubai waiting for our next flight. The Dubai airport is huge so it's good we have some time to get through without ruahing. It is always lively even late at night so at least we have something to entertain ourselves.Read more

  • Just landed

    Finally, we landed in Zanzibar. We are a little tired for the long travel, but ready to enjoy a week of sea and relax.

  • Arrived at Karafuu resort

    We arrived at the Karafuu resort, our relaxing place for the upcoming week. We arrived early so our room is not ready yet, but this didn't prevent us from starting to relax at the pool with a view on the amazing sea waters.Read more

  • Walking along the beach

    In the afternoon, we took a walk along the white beach heading north from our resort. The hope was to see some star fish that are renowned in the area, but unfortunately we didn't encounter any. Despite that, we had the occasion to see crabs and many fascinating shells. The sea view in general was amazing with vibrant colors and crystal water.Read more

  • First drinks in Zanzibar

    Closing our first day, we enjoyed the benefits of our all inclusive package by indulging in a couple of refreshing drinks. With some live music and the gentle sea breeze you can really start relaxing.

  • Salaam turtle cave

    September 29 in Tanzania ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Our second day is dedicated to exploring the island and our first stop is the salaam turtle cave. In this natural enclosure you can swim with sea turtles and have them interact with you while you feed them some seaweeds. The cave itself is a stunning view, but having a chance of being so close with sea turtles, and even touching them is an amazing experience.Read more

  • Jozani monkey forest

    September 29 in Tanzania ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

    Our second stop is the Jozani forest, especially famous for the large population of red and blue monkeys. The forest itself is fascinating and walking through it is a fantastic experience. Then you meet the monkeys, and you can see them close to you while they love their lives showing their natural interactions. It's a fantastic experience, with lots of funny monkey moments.Read more

  • Jozani mangrove forest

    A second part of the Jozani forest is made of a huge area of mangrove plants. This is completely different from the monkey forest area, another wonderful natural setting. As you walk through the mangrove forest you can see how these plants develop strange fascinating shapes in the muddy terrains.Read more

  • Spice farm

    We then stopped by a local spice farm to get to know all types of local spices and aromatic plants. On this short tour we had a chance to see, touch and smell many famous spices such as cardamomo, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, jackfruit, ginger, ... And many more. A fantastic occasion to see the origin of all these flavours that shape the taste of dishes all around the world.Read more

  • Cooking experience with locals

    We were greeted by a local family on their house for a cooking experience where they showed us how to prepare a typical Zanzibar meal. A very authentic experience, and a fantastic tasty meal where we tasted all those spices in action. Let's hope we learn enough to reproduce at least some of these amazing flavours.Read more

  • Masai dinner

    Back at the resort we had a refreshing shower before heading to the Masai area for dinner. The area is themed around a traditional Masai village and they also organized a traditional Masai dance. A nice closing experience for this first amazing day.Read more

    After a good breakfast, we took a walk on the sea passage to enjoy the sun and crystal water while we waited for our transfer to cheetahs rock conservation area.

  • Cheetas rock - meet the bush babies

    This afternoon is dedicated to the wild experience at Cheetahs rock conservation area. Our first experience is the interaction with bush babies a small and friendly kind of primates. While you sit hearing the explanation about their life and conservation, these friendly furry friends jump happily around and hang with you... As long as you have some food to offer.   • Cheethas rock - blue monkeys

    September 30 in Tanzania ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

    After bush babies, it's time to meet a couple of blue monkeys. They let us interact with a curious couple. While hearing to their story, we experienced how curious they can be as they jumped around looking for peanuts or anything that would swing, move and attract their playful attention.Read more

  • Cheetahs rock - friendly lemurs

    September 30 in Tanzania ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

    We move on to the next enclosure to meet friendly lemurs... These are very friendly animals, that immediately start interacting with new guests and have very little respect for personal space. In a moment, you can find one of these guys on your shoulder as they go around looking for the one with banana pieces. Having them around you in such a natural and easy way is truly amazing. The work they do here to help and give a happy life to these rescued animals is amazing.Read more

  • Cheetas rock - dik dik

    September 30 in Tanzania ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

    The lemurs share their space with few dik diks. They are adorable little erbivores. They are cute and quite shy and can easily be pushed away by peacocks and other animal guests.

  • Cheetas rock - the baboon

    September 30 in Tanzania ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

    This poor baboon was found in a garden, kept as a domestic pet chained to a tree. The authorities found her and sent her here to the rescue center where they are doing their best to give her a happy life. Used to humans, she is happy to interact with guests, but respect and a fence are always a good idea with such animals... You never know who they may not like.Read more

  • Cheetahs rock - meet ienas

    September 30 in Tanzania ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

    Ienas have a bad reputation, but they are intelligent animals that you can interact with if you are respectful. Here we met an old female and a young male, and we had a chance to give them a scratch and some apples, which they are fond of apparently. Seeing them so close and even having a chance to touch them is an exciting experience.Read more

  • Cheetahs rock - the white lions

    September 30 in Tanzania ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

    These couple of white lions are rescued or born in captivity and moved here as part of a repopulation program. Grown up close to humans, they are calm and sort of friendly and the keepers can feed them while they show off a little for us. Still they are wild animals... A wrong look and they will run at you to the fence... Such magnificent animals and such wonderful encounter.Read more

  • Cheetahs rock - Meet the cheetahs

    The main attraction at Cheetahs rock, as the name suggests, is the chance to encounter and sit next to a real cheetah. After a detailed security and behaviour briefing, we are ready to meet a cheetah face to face in the same space, without barriers. Being able to sit next to these magnificent animals and even touch them while they purr is a once in a lifetime experience.Read more

  • Cheetahs rock - Zebra stripes

    After meeting a big carnivore, it's time for a striped intelligent erbivore, the zebra. We received a lot of interesting information on this magnificent animal while the keeper and head of the place showed us how they interact with the zebra to make him used to humans. In the end, we also had the chance to get close, feed him and touch him. Another amazing experience that you can live only in this sanctuary.Read more

  • Cheetahs rock - The tiger

    The sanctuary here also hosts a couple of tigers part of a mating program. These animals have also been desensitized to humans so that keepers can interact with them more easily. But don't be fooled, they are still wild animals with all their instincts. It's exciting being able to see them so close while they get fed and enjoy a refreshing bath.Read more

  • Morning walk in the sea

    Today is fully relaxing. After a good breakfast, we took a walk on the beach and along the sea path to look for star fish and just enjoy the local relaxing atmosphere.

    We spent the rest of the day just relaxing in this amazing place. We enjoyed some good food, drinks and the refreshing pools while spending time reading and napping... A relaxing day to recharge mind and spirit.Read more
