Long story short: Pascal went to a quick Bulgarian health system adventure. After his x-ray we have answers to his hip problems. Inflamed ligaments. Means: resting and carrying no weight the next 7-10 days.

After a wierd physio session where i got needles 🪡 in my hip and back which were then connected to electricity and pulsated little electro shocks, after being hooked onto another 2 machines my session was over and I felt slightly bewildered but the majority of the pain was gone... so definitely positive 😌

    21 de agosto de 2022, Bulgaria ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

After the diagnosis we decided to recover (or just stop moving with weight on our back) somewhere in nature. We found this old cute circus wagon on Airbnb and stayed there for one week. We collected plums and blackberries, enjoyed fresh goat cheese and milk. The days we spent mostly reading, playing cards and walking around.Leer más

  • Zhelen to Sofia

    28 de agosto de 2022, Bulgaria ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

After the quietness and simpleness we managed to ruin the peace within few hours. We got up at 6 in the morning walked down the mountain and took a train to Sofia - where we thrown us back into capitalism and consumerism. Our mission was to find a sleeping bag. (Which is quite a mission in the Balkans) DECATHLON sadly saved us…Leer más

  • A night train to Istanbul

    29 de agosto de 2022, Turquía ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Somehow we knew at some point we have to say goodbye to the Balkans. (goodbye Cevapi & bet machines)

So we got ourselves a chouchette at a night train to Istanbul - they come with mini refrigerator and a private sink! It's an amazing way to travel - beside you have to get up at 2 am in the morning to show your passport at the Turkish border.. ohh and you have to x-ray your luggage with 78739 other sleepy people. So here we are in Istanbul - wasted.Leer más

    30 de agosto de 2022, Turquía ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

First things we did in Istanbul was waxing our nose holes, got a new haircut with it and went some thrift shopping. We ate Yemen food, ate Kunefe (or as Pascal called it: sweet raclette cheese without taste) and we went to a really fancy date above the roofs from Istanbul.

We visited Turkeys biggest mosque and took ferries between the two continents. We met some cool people, found a brewery in the upper class region and petted cats in every city park.

We got tested our negotiating skills and failed - badly.

    9 de septiembre de 2022, Turquía ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

After the crowed city we where desperate to get some fresh air. So we tried to hitchhike along the black sea coast.

  • Green camping

    10 de septiembre de 2022, Turquía ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Hitchhiking didn’t work as well as expected. Apparently since the pandemic the people are too scared. Also the people are nervous because of the current situation. Everything is getting more expensive and in 9 months they have the biggest election since 20 years.

Nevertheless the coast is beautiful, the sea is frightening at some places.

Quick fact: the black sea was a lake before the Mediterranean broke through and mixed salt water in, also the black sea is anoxic so no oxygen. Great for preserving ship wreaks.

    11 de septiembre de 2022, Turquía ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We arrived short before sunset, findind a great camp spot above the rocky cliffs overlooking the sea well hiden from the sleepy fishing village.

We had rather spontaniously arrived and not checked the weather the evening was great and the fullmoon rise big and glowing into the evening sky as we sipped a cold beer...

As we awoke in the morning however there were dark clouds, it started to drip we decided to put the rest of the tent up as we had just been using the inner part. Dripps very quickly turn to an allout downpour and dark clouds turned into a gale wind, thunder and lightning. We had wanted to wait it out and let everything dry out but nature had another plan...
The spot we had choosen was sheltered bit also a bit of a valley which very quickly turned to a gushing river which flowed under our tent ⛺️ .
We hurriedly packed our things amidst the chaos the while every now and then diving out to save a drink bottle or pots and pans from being swept away and over the cliffs into the Sea.

We managed to get it all together and got to the bis station where we met two Turkish campers who helped us arrange our way out of there and a place to repack our muddy and wet gear. They told us yeah the black sea coast is wild and it's coming into the rainy 🌧 season so we would be better of to head down to the Mediterranean ocean and go camping and hiking there. ..

Now we are on a 7 hour bus ride to Izmir and apparently 32 degrees soo sounds like tent drying weather to me 🌞

  • Olympus/Cirali

    1 de octubre de 2022, Turquía ⋅ ☀️ 35 °C

So news to me there is a turkish olympus.
We hitchhiked to Cirali where we camped in an orange 🍊 orchard. We visited the ruins of olympus, pondered what life might have been like then and saw luminescent plankton in the water at night.
The next day we were in for a another treat at the end of a 400m hike up to Mount Chimera where there are places where gas seeps out of the rock and is lit 🔥 resulting in an eternal flame, which would have been sad not to have used for a marshmallow or two after 3 we both agreed they tasted better as kids and gave them to some young kids, the resulting sugar rush is their parents problem...

We hitchhiked out of Ciraly after a last swim 🏊‍♂️
A traffic police man 👮‍♂️ took us to the next bus station where we waited 2 minutes and the bus to Antalya was already in front of us.
We visited a hospital wanting to get an xray for Célines knee however this proved more of a challenge then we thought. After probably the dodgeist hotel room so far we decided to go back to the till now best method, good old physio therapy he helped us the very next day and was extremely helpful and professional.
Now was time for a 13 hour bus ride to the east to Gaziantep.

After a day of bus 🚌 lag 😴
We were ready to start exploring the culinary capital of turkey. This time we had local people helping us which made it even more enjoyable.
