• Day 5

    Oysters & swimming

    September 28, 2024 in France ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Over 10 hrs sleep , needed it, waking up in our duplex with lethal steep steps to go for wee in the night! Omlette for breakfast and leftovers packed for easy ish day (5/6hrs). No hurry to leave watching other GR34 walkers pass by our window through heavy rain. Cold start, full waterproofs on and off again. Bodies accustomed to weight of rucksacks now and no new blisters….think we’ve done the training part! We flanked the estuary , very similar to the Helford greens and woodland. Steep climb through tropical
woods upto higher path overlooking the low tide scenes , many islands , no white horses today, calm and glimpses of sun. Other walkers on the path , it’s a Saturday. Headed for oyster bar , sat at banks of estuary in industrial beach area…..first to arrive followed by many french connoisseurs . We wanted to give them another go but still preferred crevettes with rosé. Found a spot on beach to finish our leftover rice dish before our last hour /two heading for a swim somewhere…..we found la plage and crepe van. Little walk to our accomodation for the night, cute converted chapel , beer n fish in sunshine finished off a slow day……finally!!! Last walking day tomorrow.
