    4 mile quarry Oregon

    June 14, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

We finally made it to Oregon! Oh my gosh we drove forever and a day to get here. What a long day

We followed the signs but took a wrong turn and ended up 10 miles up a forest road to a snowmobile trailhead instead of the quarry. We thought about staying there but there was a lot of dead trees waiting to fall plus a bunch the forest service had already cut away from the road. We were afraid a tree would fall and trap us up the mountain.

Down we came to the quarry. Being as it's a friday, we expected quite a few campers. What we did not expect was the Redneck Rivera, Oregon edition. Who even knew Oregon had rednecks? I can get behind rednecks have a good ole time. What I cannot get behind is trashing a campground. I picked up a whole kitchen sized bag of trash in just the campsite we picked. This trash was in all of them so it's not like I could just leave it. This trash included dirty diapers, broken glass, bottle tops, and my favorite, pee-pee wipes. What the hell people?

So along with all of that, it was also a dustbowl. So. Much...Dust. add a wet dog to dust and you get mud. 🐾💩 Everything in the back of the camper was covered with dust. Everything had to be washed before I could cook. And I forgot my taco seasoning for last night's dinner

We moved sites a little later to one with a bit more grass but it didn't really help. The weather was chilly and home time was 10pm. We climbed in the bed after cleaning the dust from our legs and feet. Ah, time to sleep...but wait...its time for the redneck scream-off AND time to play your bass down low music really loud plus make sure your car alarm goes off at least 5 times.

At some point I dozed off. Sunrise is at 5:15 so before 5am we were awake. We made sure to make ALOT of noise as we packed up.

The area is beautiful but the rednecks have ruined it
