We slept in this morning and just lolled about drinking coffee. I had a vehicle reservation for the north entrance to the park, and I wanted to revisit the Polebridge Mercantile.

We came across the Going to the Sun road, and it was much better because I was against the mountain wall but also worse because we had such a long steep descent. It was fine. Redd put it in low gear, and it was fine.

We stopped at the Lake Mcdonald lodge because I wanted to go inside. We only got to walk around the outside during 2020. It is so pretty inside, very rustic. It is very similar to the Old Faithful Lodge in style but with more native American designs.

We then started to head up to Polebridge, which is 22 miles from the border. We bought sandwiches and bearclaws for dessert.

I have to say, there were entirely too many people, and it took away from the isolation of the North fork region. The road to get there was a tragedy. We all know how bad the roads in LA are, but this 1 beat them all. Geeze.

Came back thru the park and saw two bears, and while we waited in the bear jam, I watched 3 osprey hunting in St. Mary Lake. The bears weren't very close to the road, so there were no photos.

Idiot of the day is all the people who can't park for shit in the pullout and all the idiots who parked 2 miles away from the Avalanche trailhead. That hike is not that great. J/S.

I'm not sure what tomorrow will hold. We are thinking of hiking St. Mary and Virginia falls. I'm not sure if our calves are up to the challenge. 🤣🤣
