  • Westin Dublin, Ireland

    June 5, 2016 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Awesome old hotel with great staff, and funny pigeons (window opens, yay). Across from Trinity College, old Parliament, and a casino (among other things).
...I think the bathroom is especially beautiful, the bed is super comfy (& I don't think that is just the post flight soreness and sleep deprivation taking), & Tim likes the colorful pigeon neighbor as well. Plug options in the room are also cool.Read more

  • Ghost Tour - Dublin, Ireland

    June 5, 2016 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Met (John) at The Church Bar and walked around for about 1.5 hrs listening and joking about history, urban legend, and gnarly tails... Ending at the Brazen Pub (oldest in Dublin).
... Also put my/our daily walking tally to over 7.5 miles (8 by the end of day). A mere 2-3 times my normal days.Read more

  • Killkenny, Ireland town

    June 6, 2016 in Ireland ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

So when you first start to see beautiful old things in a foreign country it is amazing how many churches can be mistaken for a cathedral, and how many towers can appear to be castles when you don't know exactly where you are going.
Here are some of the spots we found in Kilkenny in route to the castle and cathedral.

  • Killarney, Ireland

    June 6, 2016 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Full day of driving, and exploring in Kilkenny, but we made it around to Killarney! Unfortunately, McDonald's had to do for a late dinner. Since, even with a very happening bar scene, no one serves food after 9:30. The lady who checked us in our hotel thought there was a place around the corner that did for a little while. So we at least got a nice little walk around the main happening street.Read more

  • Minard Castle

    June 7, 2016 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Stumbled on by stopping for bathrooms and tea... Went slightly off route and found this pure gem. Cromwellian troops tried to destroy it by using explosives on the corners, but they only dented it and it's still standing now. It overlooks a lovely beach and stream and a lot of mossy rocks.Read more

  • Flew over to Bristol, UK

    June 8, 2016 in England ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Took a while to get off, but beautiful flight and we got some rest waiting to take off. We were over an hour late, and for no apparent reason. There was a ton of fog but the pilot didn't mention that as an issue and we were able to clear it quickly.
Dublin airport was quite nice, extremely efficient, and clean... I do abhor that they make you walk through the mall, especially the perfume and makeup counters, in order to reach your gate however. I wish it was more well known and respected that people can be negatively affected by strong smells. 😞 The duty free liquor store, including the "Whiskey Ambassador" was a neat and useful place.
They also had a really cute rating system of sad to happy faces as you moved through the various areas. I thought this was cute and probably helped them to provide the efficient and overall nice experience. I did wish the one at the end of the mall had an option to Also state a comment though. 😉
Flying trough the clouds and over Wales was beautiful!

  • Touring Bath, UK

    June 9, 2016 in England ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Pippa took is in by train. Walked around the Abbey, River, steers and markets as it first experience of an older England settlement.
(Learned from James much later the English cathedral=city, versus no cathedral=town thing. I believe Bath counts as a city since it has an Abbey, that was awarded cathedral status in the 13th century. Although the current Abbey wasn't built until 1499.)Read more

  • Lunch in Bath

    June 9, 2016 in England ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Good, and strong cider from a barrel and a ploughman's (Danielle), as well as nice, tap cider and bacon & cheese sandwich (Tim). Pippa took us to this quant, old place with a great atmosphere, (which was perfect, especially since we had nothing particular in mind).
We also started to learn more about English culture, as well as that a snake bite is not served in Bath if "responsible licensing" is being respected.

Danielle also thought the ingredients on the soap seemed funny and took a photo to compare.

  • Tapas and drinks with the Sundquists

    June 9, 2016 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

What, we are and didn't take photos?!? Too hungry and enjoying conversation I suppose. Or even perhaps not being keen on documenting how will we all clean up.
Either way, the food was really great at Pippa and Jamie's favorite tapas place. We also had the pleasure of Sarah and Mark joining us as we were finishing, getting a bite and accompanying us for a drink down the block...So much good conversation, food, and cider/beer.Read more
