We are now ready for our big adventure.

After 17 hours of flying, we are now sitting in the lounge waiting for our flight to Paris.

It is great to be back in Paris. What a shame we don't have the time to enjoy it. We arrived at our hotel just before 6 pm. We had a shower and a rest before heading out into Paris just to walk aroundBaca lagi
Gare Montpasse - Paris to Bayonne

We left from here first thing this morning. Very hot and sticky.
It was very hard to get any really good photos as the train travelled so fast.

A short stop in Bayonne to change trains for the last part of the journey. A few better photos as the train is not a fast one.
St Jean Pied de Port

Left Paris this morning by fast train to Bayonne. It was wonderful to have both wi-fi and air conditioning.

Day 1 of the Camino

St Jean Pied de Port to Orisson
Well, who would believe Lyn and I lost each other before we started the walk to Orisson today. After looking for her for 30 minutes, I decided I had better get going.Baca lagi

After 4 hours of hiking in the clouds, I arrived to find Lyn here. What a relief.
Day 2

Orisson to Burgutte
Left Orisson 7.15am. Sun hasn't risen yet.
What a long, hard, blistering slop of a 20k day. Going up was just as bad as going down. 31 degrees today.

Day 3

Burgeute to Zubiri. Left at 7.20 am, and arrived in Zubiri at 5 pm.
It was another long, hard strunus day. It's too difficult to stop and take pictures to really give an idea of some of the terrain weBaca lagi

A short stop on the way to rehydrate, a very pretty village.
Zubiri

Arrived in Zubiri, exhausted, it has been a very challenging day. An 18 k hike that has taken all of our energy, we were so pleased when we finally reached our destination.
Day 4

Rest day in Zubiri.
Staying in the same Albergue, it was wonderful to have a lie in until 8 am. We walked around the village this morning and then rested this afternoon.
Day 5

Zubiri to Trinidad de Arre
Left 6.20am and arrived at Trinidad at 2pm. 7.5 hour hike today.
Another scorching hot day but not as hot as the last 2 days. We left in the dark, and Lyn used her phoneBaca lagi

We had a short stop here to get out of the sun for a while.

Here are some photos of this pretty village and a video. We are staying in a church Albergue built in the 12th century for the pilgrims.
Day 6

Trinidad de Arre/Pamplona to Uterga
Left 8am arrived in Pampanga at 9.30am and at Uterga 12.30pm.
We had out ponchos on as we left Arre, and it certainly felt a lot cooler, thank goodness. It rainedBaca lagi

Arrived in Uterge about 12.30 pm, had lunch, and a shower. Some photos on our walk around the village.
Day 7

Uterga to Cirauqui - 14.5k
Left at 7 am, we arrived at 12.15pm.
It certainly was an easier walk today, 1, it was overcast most of the way, and 2, only a couple of steep inclines. We had the oddBaca lagi
Puente La Reina

Had a bite to eat and a look around the village.

We are staying at an Albergue called Cirauqui. Photos of this very steep Mediterranean hilltop village.
Day 8

Cirauqui to Villamayor de Monjardin - 23ks
Left 6.45am arrived at 2pm
As you can see, it was dark when we left Cirauqui the terrain was reasonably flat and so we made good time. With it being cooler,Baca lagi
Estella

Arrived here at 11.30 am and spent a lovely time having a nosy around the large town. We spent an hour on a tourist train, thoroughly enjoyed it, and well worth the 5 euros.
Villamayor de Jardin

This is a village on a steep grade. We are on the top floor and had the room to ourselves. We both slept really well.
