• Journey to Vang Vieng 🫣

    8.–9. dec. 2024, Laos ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

We left Luang Prabang and headed to Vang Vieng, but since we couldn’t get train tickets, we opted for the much cheaper public bus — a perfect chance to experience real Lao transport. After a 3-hour delay, the driver finally appeared. While we anxiously asked about departure every hour, the local passengers waited patiently without complaint.

Once on board, the bus was packed with at least 5 extra people, squeezed onto plastic stools in the aisle. The 185 km journey took 5 long hours over bumpy, winding mountain roads. Compared to this, even Poland’s worst country roads feel like highway luxury!

Sleep was impossible — at one point, a Lao man fell asleep on my shoulder, while a woman behind me dug her foot into my hip for half the ride. After this experience, I swear I’ll never complain about public transport in Poland again!
