Stage 6 - along the way

It was very warm today and we had beautiful blue skies for most of the walk. There were more rolling hills and lots of green, and the path was gentle and mercifully there was little asphalt.

Today saw us visiting another iconic Camino stop - the wine fountain at the Bodegas de Irache, where Navarra wine is dispensed through a water fountain-type tap, and pilgrims fill their shells (or their water bottles…) There is also a gorgeous blacksmith’s shop a few metres away, which was worth investigating.

We passed a castle perched on top of a perfectly triangular mountain that looked like a kid’s drawing. Also an old ‘fountain’ that had steps leading down to water it looked as though you could just sit in happily.

Pretty villages provided snacks and lunch and the hills changed from rolling ones to Rockie type ones and back again.Leggi altro
