On my way to Mardorf I detoured to the splendid city of Braunschweig. It was lovely and felt very at ease with itself. Having visited a few memorial sites for Nazi atrocities in Berlin I needed this day of ordinariness. I lit a candle in the cathedral to ‘pray’ for peace.Read more
