San Pedro de Atacama

Crossing another border we arrived in Chile! The drive over the border was a long one, but had stunning scenery and we reached new heights - 4100m above sea level - our first experience of altitude.

The town of San Pedro is quaint, situated on the Atacama desert - the driest place on earth. We spent the morning wandering the towns dusty streets and enjoying the sunshine. In the afternoon we took a trip to Valley of the Moon which has various stone & sand formations carved by sand, wind & water. This makes the texture look like the surface of the moon.
