    Melbourne my love, I’m back

    January 31, 2025 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

Well it’s amazing. Not even a year after my great trip, I’m back to that continent that’s so close to my heart. This time: Melbourne and Victoria. Actually I came here because I have the honor to attend my fried Pey and her fiancé Ben’s wedding.
A chance to enjoy Melbourne again. This time in summer

  • The grampians - hike 1

    February 4, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

My first day in the Grampians - although I was really not sure if I should come here as vast parts of the area are experiencing severe bushfires, Halls Gap has just been reopened and the locals are hoping for tourists to come. And to be fair: I was not disappointed at least on my first day here! A lot of cute wildlife, wonderful nature, although one can see the remains of a fire that just come through the area. First hike up to Venus Bath, Clementis falls which had no water and a peak, whose name may come pronounce was amazing. I rounded it up with another detour down in the valley, where I spotted, countless wallabies, mums with babies mostly 🥹😍 I’m really in love with this place.Read more

  • Grampians: Hike to Pinackle lookout

    February 5, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

It’s just beautiful here, when I leave the accommodation in the morning for my hikes, kangaroos, wallabies, and all sorts of birds are just in our backyard feasting on what little grass has left there. The cuteness is overwhelming. This time I chose to do Pinnacle hike. So passed the kangaroos and wallabies go up and up the hill through wonderful nature past gorges, Turret Falls, which due to the current draught only has very little water. Through the Grand Canyon of the Grampians with its wonderful rock formations which left me amazed. Up to the Pinnacle Lookout which posts a wonderful wide view over the plate below, including horse, gap and the lakes. I’d after getting back down, I close
My hike with another little walk along Fyams creek. Only this time there was unfortunately no wildlife there.
Yet, going there again in the evening there were heaps of kangaroos. By the way in the evening, the kangaroos were everywhere in Halas Gap. And not only those, but also all sorts of Cockatoos, Kookaburras, and other native Australian birds. It’s just amazing wildlife 🤩

  • Diving Mornington Peninsula

    February 6, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Being at the Mornington peninsula, I decided to do two dives with the Scuba Doctors. Although it was quite pricey, I sie not regret it at all. My first dive was at Blairgowrie Pier and I saw as many as at least 8 octopuses, decorated crab, sea horse, heaps of starfish , and smooth rays (a type of sting rays).
My second dive at Portsea was for the sole purpose of seeing leafy seadragons and in addition I saw at least 15 puffer fish 😍

    What a great adventure ❤️

Coming to the main reason, why I traveled to this wonderful country (and continent 😉) again so shortly after my last time being here, Pei and Ben’s wedding 😍
And wonderful it was. A beautiful bride, a handsome groom and a lot of happy and nice people from Australia, Taiwan (and Germany 😉) to celebrate their great day with them at The Baths, an incredibly beautiful venue right at the beach in Sorrento.
    Some impressions …

  • The Great Ocean Walk @Apollo Bay

    February 8, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Today I chose to hike a part of the wonderful Great Ocean Walk from Apollo bay. With its stunning views along the coast, beautiful little beaches and rainforest along Elliot river, it was just wonderful.
And on my way back I spotted a fearless Echidna on the track and (unfortunately also) a brown snake. One of the most dangerous snakes in the world 🙈 luckily it was fleeing once it heard my steps.

  • Saving a Koala

    February 12, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Although I actually wanted to make one story about the wildlife I encountered, I cannot refrain from sharing the koala cutie we saved (and some more Koalas I saw)
The little one was sitting in a fence under a „for sale“ sign before it darted down into the ground and towards the street. To avoid it being driven over, an Australian couple saved the little one and tried to (re) unite it with the koala up the tree but the little one did not want to go up there. We called the wildlife rescue who came after a while to take the little one with them.
It was such an adorable little koala, I’m totally in love with it.

Australia’s wildlife is just amazing. Ne t to the Echidna and Snake and the koalas I had already seen, I saw a lot of Australian wildlife at Wildlife Wonders in Apollo Bay: a wildlife project that aims at representing Otway reserves flora and fauna.
