    Tassi ♥️ - Day 1

    From bustling Sydney it goes off to Tasmania - the most southern place in the world I have aber been to.
    With a group of 20 nice ppl. We travel across the island guided by Tom from Under Down Under ;)
    On the first day we made our way to the west:
    Our tour of Tasmania/lutruwita took us first to the wild West Coast, with a few beautiful short walks throughout the day. We experienced three National Parks, beginning with Mount Field and its wondrous Russell Falls and some of the world’s tallest trees. We stood on the shore of Lake St Clair (Australia’s deepest freshwater lake) which forms part of the Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. As we travelled west, we were immersed in magnificent wild scenery, flanked by mountains, buttongrass plains and rainforests of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. We stopped at Queenstown to learn about Tasmania’s pioneer history, before settling into our accommodations in the harbourside village of Strahan. Yet we weren’t lucky to see the platypus that lives there in the creek.

    We even tried to spot some Aurora Australis the evening, yet we missed it by a day. Still hat some nice and quiet time by the bay in Strahan.

    - but to be fair: no platypus to be spotted so far , Yet, we saw cute pademelon but they took flight pretty quickly.    Læs mere

    Tassy ♥️ - Day 2

    Heading to the west cost we did walk to Montezuma Falls, hidden within the ancient temperate rainforests of the Tarkine/takayna. We’ll return to the coast and explore the enormous Henty Sand Dunes.
    Later, we checked out the windswept Ocean Beach, Tasmania’s longest stretch of sand, and breathed the freshest air in the world.

    And in the evening, we went to Australia’s (or even the world’s!) longest playing theater play which has been played every night since the 1994 - “The Ship that never was”
    Quite funny play that includes quite a few ppl from the audience.    Læs mere

    Tassy 🦘♥️ Day 3

    Today we went off to hike at Cradle Mountain National Park. Deep within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, this glacial carved landscape is filled with wildlife. We looked for wombats at Ronny Creek, and did a longer hike to Marion Lookoit. We then departed for Sheffield to have Australia’s heart ice cream, the Town of Murals, before reaching one of Australia’s oldest cities, Launceston.Læs mere

    Tassy Day 4 ♥️🦘

    Today we Explore Launceston’s beautiful Cataract Gorge and enjoyed a short walk within this nature reserve only minutes from the city centre and spotted some wallabies. 🦘 Then, we took a scenic drive to the East Coast via St Columba Falls to see gigantic tree ferns. Only stopping to try and find platypuses. After lunch at St Helens, we walked along Tasmania’s best beaches, including the pristine sands and turquoise waters of the Bay of Fires/larapuna. We learnt about the cultural significance of larapuna for Tasmanian aboriginal people/palawa. We took our time enjoying the breathtaking coastal scenery before making our way down to the relaxed township of Bicheno, home of the little penguin.Læs mere

    Tassy day 5 ♥️

    16. maj 2024, Australien

    Day 5 was dedicated to exploring the exquisite Freycinet National Park. Relax on a powder white-sand beach, walk to the Wineglass Bay beach or lookout. Alternatively, you may prefer the more challenging climb to the top of Mt Amos. From the summit you can enjoy panoramic vistas over Freycinet’s pink granite mountains, secluded coves, and coastal bushlands. We’ll look out over the Tasman Sea from the lighthouse at Cape Tourville, before following the Great Eastern Drive to Hobart/nipaluna where our tour of Tasmania came to an end.
    What an amazing trip this was and such a group of wonderful people with the best tour guide ever! We ended very emotional taking a group photo with the bus, crying …. It was just amazing!    Læs mere

    Great Ocean Road - Finally back 🥲🥲

    It’s been so long, more than 20 years that I have been to the Great Ocean Road. I have just been 14 back then.
    This time, 21 years later, I’m doing the trip with wonderful Peo, whom I met in Kyoto a few weeks ago.
    And it’s amazing. The road and all the views are just stunning and at the same time we are having great philosophical and life discussions.

    What a great time; well the second day on the great ocean road was a bit rainier but we still got to see London bridge, the 12 apostles and all the other nice places in the GOR at wonderful light before we headed back to the Mornington peninsula.

    Time has run! It is already my last day and wonderful Australia but you can be sure, I will come back. And this time it will not take me 20 years!
    Melbourne showed itself from its best side today: Sun-sun-sun
    Hence, I borrowed a bike and did the 20 km drive along the beaches from South Melbourne Beach to Black Rock. And what an amazing ride it was! But see for yourself!    Læs mere

    Off we go - camping

    First morning in Aotearoa and waking up to a wonderful beach view on our new home for the next 4 weeks.
    And off we go - first stop Kawakawa public toilets - one might think why is she talking about toilets…. Yet, this has been the place where Hundertwasser spent the last 22 years of his life in a very remote area. So apparently those restrooms are somewhat special…
    And then off to a short hike to lovely rainbow waterfalls before we head north.
    To the top north point of New Zealand where the spirits of the ancestors enter the world of the spirits at Spirits Bay.    Læs mere

    Entrance to the Kawiti Glowworm Caves

    Well a day of driving means more of beautiful views but little adventure.
    So we stopped at Kawiti Glowworm Caves - unfortunately no photos allowed. But definitely worth a visit. The caves are run vs Māoris and the to girls that guides us the through were nice and funny.
    Another short hike somewhere in the way and then off to Matamata - well finally see Hobbington tomorrow :)    Læs mere

    Hiking at Lake Tarawera

    Still in the North Island, today it is off to Lake Tarawera, boasting with great nature, hot water beaches and pools, and great hikes. I took the 18km hike from hot water beach back to the Lake Tarawera Reserve parking lot with amazing views and enjoyed an hours chat in the hot water pool with a local.Læs mere

    From Rotorua it goes towards Taupō after a nice morning hike on Rainbow mountain with a wonderful view, the boiling mud pools on our way. Just before Taupō, thousands of liters of water are violently finding their way down the impressive Huka falls.
    Lake Taupō is famous for its rock carvings of a maori ancestor. Hence, we head off to experience them in a boat trip.    Læs mere

    Mount Doom - Tongariro Crossings

    Following the footsteps of Frodo, Sam, and Gollum, we head towards Tongariro mountain to hike the Tongariro crossing with wonderful views on Lord of the Rings‘ Mount Doom, where Frodo destroyed the ring. Sun, wind, snow, storm and ice, we had it all. An impressive and exhausting hike but we made it to the top and back.Læs mere

    The first 2 Humpback whales appeared right when we pulled out of the port. Humpbacks migrate through Kaikoura in winter time (longest migration periode - up to 20.000km a year)
    we had a little seal following us around 🦭😍 others trying to protect their prey from albatrosses. And Hector’s dolphins and dusky dolphins 🐬😍 swam with us and albatrosses on the lookout for food zLæs mere

    Ziplining Kaikoura

    Today it’s off to another adventure: 2km of ziplining with ecoadventures and wonderful views of the coast. With ziplines between 270 and +600m length and the longest ride being nearly a minute 🤩
