  • Bye bye Japan 😢

    April 16, 2024 in Japan ⋅ 🌬 22 °C

Times running and my two weeks in Japan are already up. But first my last hours in Japan I still have some „program“.
Starting with queuing at 8:30 for one of the 300 popular tickets for the free guided tour of the imperial palace that starts at 10.
After a last vegan lunch it‘s already time to pick-up my luggage and head off to the airport with the Narita express.
Next stop Singapore and lucky me is again traveling with a few middle seat ✈️🤩

  • Singapore - 1 more day

    April 18, 2024 in Singapore ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Even though it’s rather rainy this morning, I head towards the pools. And oh - they were closed… but just for a few minutes. So I got my dose of swimming. Strolling through Kampong Glam before heading back to the hotel. On my way mI remembered this blog I was creating last time I was here in Singapore 😍 https://daniinsoutheastasia2012.wordpress.com
Check it out. It’s crazy that it has already been 12 years since I las was in Singapore.
After a delicious lunch at Analakshmi restaurant (remembering when I was there last time 12 years ago) I head to MacRichie Nature reservoir. While in the entrance area there’s as school competition in Canoeing in the lake, the rest of the park is wonderfully quiet and peaceful.
And afterwards a wonderful evening at Lau Pa Sat Hawker wirb Vancelyn and Hannah and delicious Laksa and Satay ♥️ I already miss you heaps!

In just a few hours I’ll be landing in Australia 🤩 finally!
As it was a day-flight, not so much happened today 😅 but I already gut a glimpse of Cairns‘ Esplanade and am making plans for an upcoming dive trip 🤩🤩🤩 🤿

  • Cairns - or a trip into the rain forest

    April 20, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

As I started my day early and busy, there is know a little time for discovery. I decided to go to Mount Whitfield for a little hike and a wonderful view over the city of cairns.
I started with the “green arrow” trail, which I was pretty much alone on for 3 full kms. Moving on to the slightly more popular blue trail before stepping on busy red trail. Wonderful views ♥️ and ending with a delicious Mackerel and fish dinner

And tomorrow I’ll be off to a multi-day diving trip to the outer Great Barrier Reef 🪸 I’m so excited - might not update you here for this time but let’s see :)

  • Taking the Greyhound to Airlie beach

    April 25, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

What an amazing country this is way to big to experience and discover everything and it’s just beautiful! Today’s my first ride on the Greyhound (10:45 hours…) best even looking out of the window was exciting.

We drove by rainforest, big fields of - I assume - sugar cane, a lot of beaches, ports …
Saw an amazing sunset - unfortunately could not catch that one on camera.

And I used the time to plan fast parts of my time in Australia :) crazy there’s just not enough time!

My first day in airlie beach will finally be a quiet one - beach, a little hike with a view and just relaxing before the tour to the whitsundays on Saturday.

  • A daytrip to the Whitsundays

    April 27, 2024 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 25 °C

Off I go today for a day trip to the Whitsundays with Ocean rafting. After a slight pre-warning for the really rough conditions - Winds
Southeasterly 15 to 25 knots, reaching up to 30 knots offshore in the evening - which promise a „Exhilarating Wild Ride!“ Nicholas to take some sea sick pills in advance ;) just want to ensure I’ll be able to fully enjoy the ride ♥️
And yes it was a bumpy but fun ride. We would head to Whitehaven beach for a hike up to the platforms, then off to a little bay for snorkeling in the reefs, not so good visibility but we still saw loads of fish and a turtle 🐢
And then off to a beautiful beach for hanging out ♥️ so beautiful
And a rafting ride back with #oceanrafting ♥️

  • Wonderful Noosa Sunset

    April 29, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

After being around for 27 hours… don’t ask, my dive on to the SS Yongala got canceled, while I was already halfway there, hence I canceled accommodation and transport decided to follow my plans after the dive hop on the Greyhound down to Noosa. A >20hr which was very exhausting, but I made it to beautiful Noosa and an amazing hostel. Flashpackers great, really cozy, there’s nice people and they have cool program every night.
First night here, Meng from Singapore packed us into her car and we went to see the sunset. And by the way, see what little chip doesn’t want to stop playing with his ball.⚽️

  • Fraser Island ♥️

    May 1, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

A 5:30 pickup is definitely not my most preferred - yet, in Oz everything and everyone starts early. And we are headed to beautiful Fraser Island. And what’s best, most of the drive there, we do right along 40 mile beach enjoying the waves and a beautiful sunrise. 🌅 And guess how long 40 mile beach is… right, 65km ;)
And to add to the adventure: our truck got stuck on the beach and had to be pulled out 😅😅😅
When heading over to Fraser island, we drive along 75 mile beach… and yeah it’s 120km ;) heading into the rainforest seeing amazingly high trees just growing in the sand and then to swim in wonderful Lake McKenzie. Great day ♥️

    May 7, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

After a very short night - which was ended dramatically by a Fire Alarm intentionally activated by one of my fellow guests at the hostel at 4:30 - I head out towards the blue mountains very early, only to find them covered in rain und mist. Hence, I decide to have breakfast, hang out a bit and then head back to Sydney…
…but it cleared up and while I was having my breakfast, the sun made her way through the clouds. So off to the trail towards Wentworth falls.

    May 9, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

What would be more beautiful thank seeing the opera house and Harbour bridge from the opposite side of the bay?
After I went on a pretty sensational dive yesterday and sorry, no pictures underwater, I decided to do the coastal hike from Rose Bay to Hornby lighthouse. I was even lucky with the weather. It was such a rain, but there was only a bit of rain and I had wonderful views and a bit of water on the way.
It was an amazing hike with places to chill and hangout and the ferry back to central quay with a wonderful view on the opera house and harbor bridge
