Chitose to Lake Shintoku 45km

We took our time as we enjoyed our nice room in Chitose. It was then a lovely bike path along a fast flowing clear mountain river most of the way towards Lake Shintoku. The last section on the bike sidewalk of a busy road along the lakes edge. We stopped at Morappu on the eastern edge of the lake for lunch, a busy family campsite. We then rode around the lake to Bifue campsite where we set up our tent amongst the other campers. Both locations have dramatic views over the blue lake waters to the surrounding volcanos. People camp right on the lake shoreline and set out in paddle boards. We met a young couple trying to start a fire rubbing sticks. We gave them a few tips and had a lovely conversation, but they couldn't get a fire going.Read more
