    I pride myself on my knowledge of flora and fauna - no fancy college learning will get you the kind of experience i get from my daily 2hrs of NatGeo Wild - but what the flying squirrel, Bukit Lawang! Since when do orang-outans, those lovable jazz-singing, cigarette smoking, funny face-making gingers stalk and bite tourists in the jungle. Well meet Mina the orang-outan. some say it was 100, others swear at least a thousand, but no matter how many jungle trekking guides get bitten, the queen reigns supreme. Like a highway bandit out of robin hood, she waits for you and demands her tax: everything you got that i can eat. or i bite. maybe i'll still nibble a bit. just to see. That being said, while i love to judge a people based on the actions of a few rogue elements, i have to say that Mina's peers were delightful creatures and quite inquisitive at the sound of a mango. It's probably not recommended to feed the monkeys. Definitely not. It's a gateway larceny - first food, then they realize cigarette and liquor are fun too, and cash works wells, which then leads to gambling, rehab, finding religion and death. Do do it. But what kind of monster can resist those big man-like eyes. And those monkey babies damnit. It takes a cold cold soul to stare at a little branch-acrobat and not give him the food.Read more
