• Tacking Point

    We headed up to Tacking Point Lighthouse and were underwhelmed by the size of the lighthouse. Tacking Point is one of those places that gets mentioned on weather forecasts, so it was interesting at least seeing where it is.
    Whilst looking out to the sea Helen spotted something floating in the water. Using the telephoto lens we could see that it was two humpback whales slowly moving along - most likely a mother and a calf.
    Much further out, there was another spout of water and a larger humpback whale.
    After we had our fill of sunshine and whales we headed to Sea Acres Rainforest Boardwalk, wondering through the rainforest hearing lots of bird calls. We were able to get glimpses of brush turkeys, large-billed scrubwren, white-headed pigeon and satin bowerbird, plus some Garden skinks (Lampropholis guichenoti) and a tree where the fruit grows out of the bark.
