We left our free camping site at Gunning Showground early this morning for the drive to Griffith. After the heatwave of yesterday, the temperatures dropped to 12 degrees overnight resulting in a very brisk start to the morning.
Heading to Griffith whilst listening to Peter Fitzsimmons' audiobook on Galipili and passing through towns like Harden/Murrumburrah where the Light Horse was formed and many locals signed up and served in the First World War.
Upon returning from the war the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area was being developed and returned soldiers were given land leases to develop the land.
Heading towards Griffith we came across a road closure and were detoured to Cootamundra where Don Bradman was born - we briefly pulled into the museum and had a look around.
Arriving in Griffith we headed to Calabria Family Wines and had an antipasto plate whilst we tasted their range of very nice wines. Coincidentally, we went to a restaurant called Little Italy for dinner where we emptied a Calabria Cab Sav.Read more
