    Left early to sail from Armadale (Isle of Skye) to the Isle of Eigg, the direct route covers approximately 15 nautical miles and takes you south through the Sound of Sleat. Misty and rainy morning with not much visibility, a few seals and birds spotted.
    Its name comes from the Scottish Gaelic word eag (or Eige), which translates to "the notched island" or "wedge". This refers to the island's distinctive, wedge-like silhouette.
