    Venice Doge's Palace

    Part residence, part courtroom, part administrative building . Doges were elected government officials who lived in this castle. Separate from the Royalty, they virtually had little power but were in essence presidents. This castle was built in 1354 after destroying the origional castle of the Republic of Venecia built in 800. The Loges were the only private spaces living quarters for the Doges. the rest of the castle was all for government.
