Orlando Renaissance Festival

Today is the day! Up at 6 am with no idea what’s going on, haha…😅

Corey woke me up and I got buried under a huge amount of choices for dressing up. I ended up in a pink ‘Odette’ dress with a corset. Of course I laced the corset wrong, missed one of the holes and it took us a bit to find the hat and shoulder sitter Griffon. Corey threw Calcifer, the small bearded dragon, into his carrier (evidently he is a cast member too) and we were off.

We arrived around 8am but gates opened at 10 so I waited in the car until opening. Attended the birds of prey show. Saw some Ents. Then there was Battle Chess. The underlying theme of the festival this year is ‘Alice in Wonderland’ so the Red and White Queen are ticked off and fighting, hence the Battle Chess. Corey didn’t get to fight in the first show so hopefully I’ll get good pics the second show at 3:30. The seat was in the sun so I’ll probably burn but, oh well! I got some water and a Coke and wandered to watch the acrobat aerial show. They were funny, instead of cheering we all had to yell ‘free beer!’

Caught up with Corey and Kyle and walked around a bit. The sun was brutal though, so I ended up watching the ‘Lyre, Liar, Pants on Fire’ show that somehow recreated a Renaissance version of Die Hard. Then went back early to the Chess Board Stage to wait for part 2.

Omg, Corey’s fight was the very best one! Holy crap!! Alice and the White Queen won. And about sixty people mobbed Corey to say hi, hahaha. I swear she knows everyone! I got to meet Kristin, another introvert Corey’s adopted and had a lovely time talking to her. After the show we got coke floats. Corey’s is lagging a bit due to her sore throat and laid down most of the closing ceremony.
