Day 27, Getting to Colchagua Valley

    March 6, 2023 in Chile ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

We end our South American travels in Colchagua Valley, a major wine producing area in Chile. Today was a lot of driving to get here, with two stops. First, to a well known Chilean surfing town, where we saw only one surfer but had a nice fish lunch. And second to a small winery, Polkura, where Mark said he had the best Syrah of his life. He was very sad about the wine because with carryon luggage there is no suitcase wine 😎 and the Swedish winemaker exports all of his top wines to Switzerland. So to get more, return here or head to Europe. 😎 If you watch the video, you will see that we are staying at a phenomenal place. It looks like it would be owned by some million/billionaire who does winemaking or winery tourism as a hobby. But it was actually built by hand by our host during covid, everything here recycled except the kitchen island countertop that he was most particular about. Mauricio is a winemaker and chef who also leads gourmet trips to Antarctica. Who knew?Read more
