We took our first ride on the subway to Tokyo’s oldest temple, Asakusa Kannon Temple. The temple is quite beautiful and a very significant center of Japanese religious faith. Equally interesting is the adjacent rows of little shops, some selling exquisite handcrafted goods, and food stalls. And we saw our first blooming cherry tree. In the afternoon we took a Sumi-e class, which is Japanese black ink painting, taught by Honkun, the son of one of the country’s masters. It was focused, creative, and fun.Read more
