    Home to Tokyo

    June 16, 2017 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

What a long day. Up at six to get to the Gold Coast airport. Didn't take long to get through customs then a two hour wait to get on the plane.
Had a look in duty free and before we knew it they were calling last passengers before the gate closes to Narita.
Muffin was good on the plane and watched a few movies, Hidden Figures and Emo the musical. Listened to some music and then watched Percy Jackson again.
We were running early then they said due to bad weather we would have to wait in a holding pattern.
Finally landed then had another 30 minute wait before getting off the plane.
Arrived at terminal three and queued for customs 🛃 45 minutes.
Walked to terminal two and Blair remembered the vending machines. Bought a simple card and went downstairs to get our Suika cards 🎴. Asked about Narita express but that was a different ticket.
Tried to activate sim card 💳 but needed wifi and it was dodgy on platform.
Got on Rapid train at 9:17 and sim finally started working on the way. Sue skyped us directions. Changed to Maranuchi line at Tokyo and finally booked in to hotel around 11:00 pm
Room is fine. Dropped luggage and headed out for something to eat.
Lots of options but the first few we try are closing or closed. So got some sushi at familymart. Blair had caviar in his and did not enjoy it, so ended up at Maccas across the road.
Back to the room after and off to sleep around 12.

  • Day two

    June 17, 2017 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Woke up and it's bright but 5:20am. Phone is charged and wifi works well, so might as well research what to do today. Government tower is very close but closed today so we may check out some local attractions when Blair gets up.
Had the in-house Japanese buffet breakfast 🍳 no so tastie then headed off for the day.
Visited Taheshita St and had crepes, yum. Blair bought a fidget spinner and we headed to Meiji Jintu Shrine.

What's up here? There was a Marvel history exhibition on level 54 the observation deck. Great views of Tokyo. For an extra 500 💴 we went to the roof. Amazing views and so peaceful. Best part of the holiday so far.Read more

  • Chilling in the room

  • Resting at the room again.

    June 18, 2017 in Japan ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

All the excitement is too much. So much to buy, so little that fits. We went to the electronics area, but ran out of energy. Feet are sore from all the walking. We did over two hours yesterday, before we went out for tea.
Lots of people everywhere, lights and noise. Our first 🍜 and it was pretty good.
Around Ueno we saw some interesting sites. Found the tiny temple we visited last time beside the zoo. Blair bought his fortune and mine too. Will need them translated to see how it turns out.
Then saw what appeared to be a golden statue which was a busker.
When we got out of the Subway near our room, Blair spotted a Familymart so we bought some goodies. He bought pancakes and I got an egg 🍳 roll 🍥 and what turned out to be a rockmellon flavoured bun. Quite tastie.
Blair caved again and got a Maccas meal 🍴 deal.

  • Disappointment at the Skytree

    June 18, 2017 in Japan ⋅ 🌧 18 °C

Made our way here in the rain, 17 stops on the train. Did a load of washing before we left. Shuts at 10:00pm should be good.
OH NO, last tickets at 9:00 and we got there at 9:12.
Oh well should be plenty to eat here. Restaurants on level 7 didn't take our fancy. Couldn't get down to the food court, so ended up at SizzlerRead more

  • Skytree part 2

    June 19, 2017 in Japan ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

We're back and it's still open. Oh a queue for tickets. Shouldn't take too long.
Woohoo we're up and it was really worth it.

  • Did we really get lost again?!?

    June 19, 2017 in Japan ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Google maps sucks for walking directions in Japan.
After a nice FamilyMart meal, we are heading home.
Pity the three minute walk to the station took 15 minutes. Oh well we are on our way now.

  • Pelette Town

    June 20, 2017 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Going on the big Ferris wheel 🎡 we also visited a Toyota showcase, which unfortunately was closed. It would have been so cool 😎 as they had a road with mini segways.
There is also a warehouse full of noisy games. We had crepes for lunch here. I had hot ham,egg and cheese. Tastie but not as generous portions as Taheshita Street.Read more

  • Afternoon break

    June 20, 2017 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

We are back in our room again giving the feet a rest. Blair is having a cheeky 😝 🍝 spaghetti from the 711 and I am having a beer while the phone 📱 recharges.
We are going to check out the night views from Rapoongi Hills tonight.
Saw an interesting guitar 🎸 shop, but it was closed.
