2 day journey turned into 4 days

Day 1. All flights cancelled from RDU to JFK due to east coast snow storm.

Day 2. Arrive JFK 10am. 4 hours in line to check on Turkish Airways flight to Istanbul. Major winter storm shut down Istanbul. Depart for Istanbul 11:30 PM. Rick enjoyed many cocktails waiting for our flight 😀 On approach to Istanbul after 9 hour flight we divert to Trabzon Turkey. Put in nice hotel and feed nice meal.

Day 3. Leave hotel 6am. Depart for Istanbul noon. More delays...supposed to leave at 9:00
Arrive Istanbul 2:00 flight to Bangkok at 8:30pm actual departure midnight. 8 hours to Bangkok.

Day 4. Arrive Bangkok at noon train to Chiang Mia leaves at 6:30pm. Check into hotel at 2:00pm for $42.00 a night just to shower and rest for couple of hours before train departure

Day 5. Arrive Chiang Mia 9:30am after a delightful ride and sleep on 14 hour train ride in sleeper. Now let the relaxation begin.Read more
