Danjiri Matsuri, Toyama

We happened to come across a Danjiri Matsuri. It was exciting! The floats (danjiri) are big, heavy, and difficult to control. We don't know the reason for this one, but usually, the floats represent neighbourhoods. The participants practice before festival day, and then they compete for honours. These floats had fish themes, and we were near Toyama Port, so we think it must have been related to commercial fishing.Read more
