NZ Jamboree!

After landing in Auckland I took two buses to Hamilton where I was collected and taken to the site of the 23rd New Zealand Jamboree! For the next 10 days there will be 4,500 young people plus 1,500 staff staying at the site, with the vast majority of those arriving tomorrow.

I arrived just in time for dinner which was meat, potatoes and veg with chocolate brownie for desert. I was then shown to my tent which currently only has me in it, although it's split into two compartments and I've picked the one with only one stretcher!

Since the Jamboree doesn't officially open until 8am tomorrow all of the adults here have to wear a high-vis until that time which looks rather amusing. It's quite wet at the moment which looks like it might stick around for a couple of days before getting nicer, although fortunately there is lots of indoor space including a huge hangar which will be used for tomorrow evening's opening ceremony!Read more
