Charco Verde Nature Reserve

The only real way to get around Ometepe is via scooter, motorbike or quad bike (ATV). Since we'd be having to fit two of us on one vehicle, and the only two wheeled vehicle I've ever road is a bicycle, we opted to hire an ATV.

We'd also got chatting to a guy named Will, who had the same plans as us and by sheer coincidence has shared our last 3 hostels and did our volcano boarding trip with us. He's also a paid traveller and is currently designing a Central American route for his company!

Our first stop of the day was Charco Verde Nature Reserve. It had a nice lagoon but most impressively was its black sand beach looking out to Volcan Maderas!Read more
