Av 9 De Julio & the Obelisk

After dropping our bags at our hostel we headed immediately to see Buenos Aires centrepiece, the obelisk.

The obelisk stands at the centre of Av 9 De Julio which runs right through the centre of Buenos Aires. Its also one of the widest roads in the world with numerous car lines, bus lanes, cycle paths and tram lines.

The Obelisk and avenue were recently the site of the cities famous 2022 World Cup win celebrations as the celebrating Argentinians stretched along the avenue as far as the eye could see. Naturally therefore there is a huge Messi mural overlooking the avenue!Read more
