Salines Grandes Salt Flats

Our final stop and grand finale of the day was the Salines Grande Salt Flats, the 4th largest salt flats in the world! Thanks to the evaporation of water (which has never returned) leaving behind only its salt content, these huge salt flats have formed in this part of the world.

We ventured onto the flats with a local tour guide who gave us some information (in Spanish) and was clearly an expert in taking photos with his props.

After this we drove back for two hours through our stunning surroundings and back to Tilcara. We went for dinner and stocked up on snacks ahead of another day of travel tomorrow!Read more
