Washington Monument

Completed in 1884 as the tallest building in the world at the time, this obelisk was built in honour of, you guessed it, George Washington, the first President of the United States.

DC is considerably more built up nowadays than when the monument was constructed but you can still see it from all around!

As I passed the monument I also got my first glimpse of the front of the White House in the distance!Read more
