• What I almost missed

    2. Dezember 2024 in Costa Rica ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

My day began at 6:30 a.m., meeting up with a guide for an exploration of Manuel Antonio National Park, a vast rainforest right on the Pacific coast. Having a guide turned out to be invaluable—without his sharp eyes, I would’ve missed almost everything.

The rainforest’s humidity was intense, so much so that even after swimming in the sea, my hair stayed damp for the rest of the visit. I didn't mind as we spotted plenty of smaller animals and birds, each blending effortlessly into their surroundings. The standout was a venomous banana spider, which my guide pointed out was pregnant—a fascinating but slightly unsettling sight.

We also found a group of howler monkeys resting high in the trees, their distant calls echoing through the forest. Another memorable moment was watching two iguanas locked in a territorial fight. Their light blue coloring stood out beautifully against the greenery.
I’m still keeping my fingers crossed to spot a macaw or toucan, but no luck so far. Perhaps they’re waiting for me in another part of the forest.
