    Johnston Canyon Day 3

Day 3 started with another lovely breakfast at the hotel coffee house before we boarded the coach for Johnston Canyon, one of Banff National Park’s most iconic and spectacular natural attractions. Tucked away along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway, (Highway1A), it sits about 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) west of the Banff townsite.
The canyon features incredibly dramatic rock walls and churning waterfalls, all carved out by Johnston Creek as it rushes down to meet the Bow River. We tackled the Lower Falls trail, a beautiful 1.2 km (0.75 mile) walk each way along suspended catwalks over the rushing water.
The views throughout the canyon were absolutely gorgeous, and the main waterfall at the end was stunning. There is actually a unique viewing cave where you can walk directly behind the roaring falls—unfortunately, the queue was way too long today! We decided to skip the wait, soak in the panoramic views from the trail, and enjoy the crisp mountain air instead.
