Aral Sea

We used local jeeps for a day’s driving over the original seafloor, to the canyons and beaches that used to form the seashore. Sauntering camels and galloping horses abound – to us they seem wild, but all owned by locals. Personal shepherds no longer required as all livestock have electronic ear tags and easy to track from villagers’ homes.
Hosted for lunch at a local villagers’ home, who provided a tasty spread of tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, freshly fried fish, home-baked bread, tea and fresh, chilled camel’s milk. The latter tasted like delicious yoghurt.
Good news we found Miranda Hot Pools are now open in the Kazakh desert. We saw families enjoying the pools now, but at 60 degrees C a top spot when winter temperatures are minus 40 degreesMeer informatie
