Arriving at the train terminal last night, ready for our 11.30pm overnight train to Paris we found it delayed, then cancelled. Apparently, the German engineers (Stuttgart) have a problem. Fortunately, we were able to rebook into our Viennese hotel for the night.
At 8.00am Plan B started. Trains from Vienna to Lide, Salzburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Strasbourg, then Paris. The downside is losing Parisian minutes; upside the stunning Austrian and German mountain scenery, dotted with dark fir forests and alpine villages.Read more
