    I have left the Dutch and thankfully the Costa Blanca, and heading West along the Costa Calida to Cartagena. This used to be an Iberian settlement called Mastia, until General Hasdrubal renamed it Qart Hadasht in 223 B.C. until the Romans decided Carthago Nova was a more up-to-date name, until the Muslims thought Cartajana a more with-it moniker, until the Christians reconquered it in 1242 when it bacame Cartagena because they had run out of other ideas.Read more
