Day 26 of AT in TN NOBO

Cookie Lady stealth spot at Log Cabin Drive (mile marker 291.3) to Jones Meadow (#297.3).
Daily mileage: 6.0

Broke camp at 9am and immediately started up Camp Creek Bald (Elev. 4,700 ft). Heavens opened up at 11:30 with torrential rains and thunderstorms.

A few of us decided to call for a shuttle from Jones Meadows (the top of Camp Creek Bald) into Erwin, TN (an hour long ride down the backside of the mountain and around into town). We only had one bar of coverage but were able to get a hold of Doug, one of the 4 reliable shuttle drivers in the area.
Doug met us at the peak at 2pm and we happily and warmly were ushered to the Super 8 Motel to dry out. The Quarter Pounders and vanilla milkshakes next door at McDonalds never tasted so good.

We didn’t know at the time that a coastal storm off the coast of South Carolina was moving into the area and would stall over us for the entirety of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.Baca lagi
