Is was an interesting day that started with Mount Io which is a volcanic mountain emitting sulphuric smoke and then the hike around Lake Mashu which is a crater lake. All that activity was in Alkan-Mashu NP.
Tonight we are camped outside Shiretoko NP - (UNESCO Site: Recognized for its rare and connected ecosystems between the ocean, rivers, and forests.Wildlife: Home to large populations of brown bears, foxes, deer, and marine animals like killer whales.Drift Ice: Features massive floating ice sheets along the coast in the winter.).
