Kathy wanted to take a photo here but the arch is just so big that it’s hard to take it all in and still get a shot of somebody who’s close enough to be recognizable. This is probably the best one that I got. I’m not completely satisfied with it but I’ll take it.Read more

Riverwalk is, essentially, nothing more than an outlet mall. We were hoping for something much grander but I guess that we were expecting too much. Some of what we saw here was very strange, like this Pharmabox machine. Do people in this mall need to medicate themselves so much that a machine like this is necessary? That’s so bizarre!Read more

Alligator

Alligators, in all forms, seem to be everywhere in New Orleans. I guess the surrounding swamps is what attracts them. This one was in a small playground at Riverwalk. I think it’s nice that this mall set up an area where kids can run around and blow of steam.Read more

Pelicans are also represented in the playground. The Louisiana state bird is the pelican and they have have a basketball team called the Pelicans. It’s nice to see this playground is using all local wildlife in their decorating.Read more

This shop selling souvenirs of New Orleans was my favorite shop at Riverside. I think that I liked it so much because it was so different and sold things that I couldn’t get at home. We didn’t buy anything though. The prices were kind of expensive and we had seen most of what they were selling much cheaper elsewhere.Read more

Harrah's New Orleans

After we left Riverwalk, we walked through Harrah’s casino. We went into the casino to stay in the air conditioning rather than do any gambling. I’m very surprised that the casino is so empty. The ones in Las Vegas are always so busy!Read more

There are many Jazz tributes throughout New Orleans but one of my favorites are these statues standing just outside of the casino. I’m not sure if these are supposed to be specific people, or just generic musicians, but they sure look good!Read more

I’m kind of surprised that these figures aren’t modeled after actual musicians. There’s so many real jazz players who are worthy of a tribute like this. Why not use this opportunity to honor them?
