Ticket Trouble

I've got my ticket for New York Comic Con and I'm all ready to go there tomorrow morning. There seemed to be a lot of trouble regarding tickets this year. I never got mine so I had to contact the ReedPop offices to have another ticket sent to me. After I filed a lost mail claim with the post office ReedPop sent me a new ticket via overnight mail. What great service!
Sam isn't so lucky. When he saw my ticket, it reminded him that he forgot his badge at home. It's too late to call ReedPop right now but we're hoping that they can resolve this matter tomorrow morning. I'm sure that he's going to be able to get in though. I really doubt that he's the only person who ever forgot, or lost, their ticket. I hope that everything goes smoothly tomorrow morning.Meer informatie

Here we are on our way to New York Comic Con at the Javits Center. We got on the train in Flushing, heading for Hudson Yards. Going from the first stop to the last stop was a much shorter ride than I had expected. I'm glad that we had an Express train!Meer informatie

Going Up?

We're here at the Hudson Yards subway station. We were able to get an Express train out of Flushing so the ride didn't seem too long. These steep escalators going to the street remind me of the ones Kathy and I took while riding the subways in London. Mind the Gap!Meer informatie

We Made It!

After months of waiting, we're finally here inside New York Comic Con! I've never seen it so empty before but it's just opening up now. Later on, this place is going to be packed! Sam went to the convention offices so he could work out things with his forgotten ticket and I'm going to quickly run upstairs to the Mezco booth and, hopefully, get a Gomez figure. I hope that the line there hasn't gotten too long already!Meer informatie

No Gomez

I ran through the convention floor as quickly as I could to get to the Mezco booth, hoping to get this figure. Getting a Gomez figure is my main mission today but, unfortunately, this exclusive figure was all sold out. I was shocked, and asked why since they had announced that a small number of this figure would be available each day of the convention but it wasn't the case. They told me that they had such a big turnout on Thursday that they sold everything out on the first day. That's not good. What about everyone else who wanted to get one during the other days? These cosplay girls are all over the convention. I'm not sure who's she's supposed to be but it looks like one of those Japanese anime characters. The Japanese animation is very popular with a lot of people but I never really got into it. I tried but, for whatever reason, it just doesn't appeal to me.Meer informatie

He Made It!

Sam's inside the convention, and wearing a new badge. Last night, before we came here, he suddenly realized that he had forgotten his badge at home. He was upset about it but, after researching it on the comic con website, he found out that, since he activated the badge already, they could easily give him a new one. Unfortunately, they made him pay for a whole new badge! I think that they should have given the new badge for free or at least have given him a discount on it. We'll, at least he was able to get into the convention despite not having his ticket with him.Meer informatie

Stan "The Man" Lee

With the passing of Stan Lee, a true legend in the comics industry, many companies have started making figures of him. I'm not really sure how I feel about that. On one hand, it's a great tribute but it can also be seen as trying to make a profit from his death. Right now, I'm choosing to look at these figures as a tribute to Stan Lee. I never met him but Sam was lucky enough to not only meet him but also have him sign one of his comic books.Meer informatie

Pennywise

Pennywise, the evil clown from Stephen King's It, is now an action figure made by several different toy companies. I saw this one at the Sideshow display. Sideshow makes fantastic figures but, at around 12 inches or more, they are quite big and also extremely expensive. The typical Sideshow figure usually around $200 to $250 but I've seen some of the costing more. This Pennywise figure will set you back $267.Meer informatie

Mr. Freeze

I saw Mr. Freeze at the Mezco booth. I'm guessing that this is just a prototype because this figure is not scheduled for release until the Spring of 2020. I'm definitely going to get Mr. Freeze! The details of this figure are amazing! I already have the Mezco Batman so it would be great to have a few villains for him to interact with.Meer informatie

Sam was loving the comic sellers that had these dollar boxes. He looked so happy to be searching through the dealers bargain bins, filling up the holes in his collection. Unlike me, he still has, and treasures, all of his comic books. I'm so surprised that he's able to remember every one that he has and is very quick to spot the books that he still needs.Meer informatie

Every time I come to the Javits Center I'm amazed by the size of it. No matter how big this place is, though, it still feels so crowded. Comic Con seems to become more crowded each year. I wonder how many tickets are allotted for each day and if they keep raising the number each year. I'm thinking that they do because it seems to be more crowded than ever.Meer informatie

Lots of people in the cosplay community like to do cosplay mashups. This woman is a perfect example of what can be done with this idea. She's combined Ariel, the little mermaid, and Aquaman. Beauty and the Beast

This Beauty and the Beast couple look fantastic! That's not a mask that the Beast was wearing either. It's make-up and, I'm assuming, some prosthetics. He was able to talk, make different facial expressions and, pretty much, was able to do anything else he could do with his real face. I'm very impressed by this!
