  • What a View!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I'd say that the castle has been the best thing that we've seen here in Disneyland Paris so far. I think the reason it was so special is that it was very different and unique when compared to any of the other parks castles. In other places it's just a building but here it's actually an attraction. It's been great spending time here but it's time to move on and see what else there is to see.Read more

  • Bathroom Break

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We've seen everything in Fantasyland so we decided to go back to Adventureland and see if the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is running. On the way we stopped off at Toad Hall, where we ate lunch, to use the bathrooms. I really like the attention to detail that goes into these signs. At Disneyland, even using the bathroom is special!Read more

  • Back to Adventureland

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

To get back to the Pirates of the Caribbean, we had to pass through Adventureland again. The way we went was all new to us. I don't know how we missed this before but I'm happy to see some new things.

  • Arabian Nights?

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

This part of Adventureland looks very different from where we were before. In fact, this area looks different from any Adventureland that I've seen before. This area looks more Arabic than Polynesian. I'm liking it!Read more

  • Always Look Up

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Like always, Disney doesn't skimp on any of the details. This is the lighting overhead as we enter the Aladdin display. I feel like I'm being transported to the Middle East!

  • Abu and Aladdin

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I think that calling this an attraction may be giving it a bit too much credit. It's, essentially, a dark hallway with window displays of scenes from the movie Aladdin. It's nice, but I don't think that it's on the same level as an attraction.Read more

  • Prince Ali

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I'm breaking precedent here by putting two pictures into this entry. They are very similar and I couldn't decide which one I liked better. One has a better angle of Abu but the other one let's you see Jasmine. I guess that they both look good.Read more

  • Colorful Decor

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ☁️ 52 °F

Everybody seems to be just walking through this attraction and looking at the displays of the Aladdin figures but I don't see anyone taking a moment to notice the surroundings. The decor, like this stained glass window, looks beautiful!Read more

  • Bye, Genie!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

This was painted on the wall at the end of the Aladdin display. After seeing such beautiful and detailed dioramas, this painting seems almost anticlimactic. If anything, I would have used this area to perhaps have a greeting area with the Aladdin characters. Seeing them would be a great surprise at the end of this attraction!Read more

  • Just Past the Galleon

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Once again we made our way past the pirate ship. It didn't seem all that crowded this time. Are the kids getting tired, is it too close top dinner time, or has Pirates of the Caribbean reopened and, like us, everyone is headed over there? We'll soon find out.Read more

  • Pirate Ship

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I really love this big pirate ship. I don't think that any of the other Disney Parks have anything like this now. I remember that, many years ago, there was a pirate ship and a skull rock in California's Disneyland. It was in Fantasyland but there wasn't any way to get close to it. It was, for all intents and purposes, just a piece of scenery.Read more

  • It's Open!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

The Pirates of the Caribbean ride is up and running again! Not only that, the lines are moving very quickly. So quickly, in fact, that I wasn't able to get any photos of the queue. I guess that the ride just reopened and most people don't know about it yet.Read more

  • We're Ready to Sail!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We're in our boat and ready to set sail! I'm very eager to see what differences exist between this version of Pirates of the Caribbean and the one that I'm used to in Florida. The pirates ride is one of Disney's best so I've got high hopes for this attraction!Read more

  • Pirates of the Caribbean

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction was great, as always, but I don't think that it quite measured up to the one at Walt Disney World. It's almost exactly the same ride, with the same scenes, but the attraction in Florida tells a story as each display progresses. The ride in Paris has the same scenes but it's all out of order so there's no flow to the story or even context to what we are seeing. For example, in Florida, this is nearly the last scene and all the others lead up to the pirates arriving in, and looting, the city. In Paris, this is the first scene guests are presented with. There is no explanation as to what's going on, or why. The next scene shows the pirates in the caves, not in the city, and right after that they are back in the city but it's not burning. I guess that this attraction is just a collection of scenes and not a story but they are put together in a confusing sequence. While I did enjoy this ride, it didn't seem to live up to my expectations.Read more

  • Captain Barbosa

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Although most of the scenes from this attraction can be seen in other Disney Parks version of this ride, there were a couple of new scenes that are unique to this attraction. This look at Captain Barbosa, a character from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, is a perfect example.Read more

  • Back to Fantasyland

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

After the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, we found ourselves passing through Fantasyland again. This seemed to be the quickest way to get to Discoveryland, what we would call Tomorrowland back home. Since we're going past Toad Hall again, it's time for another bathroom break.Read more

  • Toad Hall, Again

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

While we were back at Toad Hall, I was seriously tempted to go in and get myself another order of the very tasty fish and chips. I resisted though. The portions are huge and I didn't really feel hungry enough to finish it. Maybe we can come back here for dinner. I certainly wouldn't mind having fish again.Read more

  • Meet Mickey Mouse

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Right across from Toad Hall was a place to meet Mickey Mouse. We haven't met any characters today and, as much as I enjoy meeting them a I don't think it would be as fun if we can't communicate with them. I still remember seeing Alice and the Mad Hatter only understanding French. If we can't talk with any of the characters, what's really the point? I'll wait until we go to the Disney Parks in America to meet some of the Disney characters.Read more

  • Making Popcorn

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We passed a popcorn cart on our way through Fantasyland and I noticed that the popcorn carts here have the little characters turning a wheel, just like the ones in the States. This little touch is something that I love seeing. I'm going to keep my eyes open to, hopefully, find more of these.Read more
