  • The Castle

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We're leaving Fantasyland by taking a walk through the castle. I'm still so impressed by Belle's castle! I think that, of all of the Disney Parks castles that I've seen, this one is the best!

  • More Popcorn Carts

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We passed another popcorn cart with little working figure and, while I was glad to see it, I was a bit disappointed that it was exactly the same as the one I saw before except for the different colored dress. It's too bad that each popcorn cart doesn't have it's own unique character.Read more

  • Discoveryland

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We're here in Discoveryland now. This is, basically, the same thing as Tomorrowland at the Disney Parks in the States with a different name. I hope that we enjoy this area of Disneyland Paris as much as we've enjoyed the rest of the park!Read more

  • Space Mountain

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Discoveryland seems to be the most popular part of Disneyland Paris and it's easy to see why. This seems to be where the majority of the park's rides are. Let's start having fun!

  • Target Practice

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

The first ride that we got on was Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. This attraction is exactly the same in all of the Disney Parks and that's not necessarily a bad thing. This is a really great ride that we always enjoy.Read more

  • Score Big Points

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Here's a tip on how to rack up a big score on this ride. Generally, the left side gun is much better situated to achieve the highest score possible. So, if you want to be the winner, sit on the left side of the cart.Read more

  • Good Times

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I've read, in several places, that of all the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin attractions this one in Disney Land Paris in the worst shape and is in need of major matinence. I'm not sure how true that is because everything looked fine to me. It's so dark in here anyway that how could anyone tell if something is amiss?Read more

  • It's Zurg!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

The Scary Factor for this ride is Zero. As for concerns of motion sickness, although it's possible to spin the vehicles around manually, it shouldn't upset even the most prone to motion sickness and you can even choose not to spin. Read more

  • Shoot to Score

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Whereas many laser gun rides feature little or no plot, Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast sees riders attempting to stop Zurg from hoarding every power cell in the universe. In typical “Toy Story” fashion, the power cells are in the form of batteries that are used to power toys.Read more

  • Get Him, Buzz!

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Upon reaching the end of the circuit, each rider receives a score and a ranking. This can range from Star Cadet (0 to 1,000 points) through to Galactic Hero (999,999 or more points). Realistically, a score of 300,000 or above is quite an achievement.Read more

  • The XP-41

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Like all of the other Disney attractions, their ride carts look fantastic. I like this one so much that I even have a miniature version of this cart back at home. The Disney Parks used to sell many different miniatures of their ride carts and I've been able to get most of them. They don't seem to sell them anymore which is too bad. I really liked them.Read more

  • Exit Through the Gift Shop

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Like most Disney attractions, you have to pass through a gift shop to exit the ride. I'm guessing that it's good business sense for the Disney Parks but most park guests see it as an annoyance. I don't really mind it. I'm always hoping that I'll find some unique attraction-specific merchandise but that never seems to happen anymore. Everything is the same generic stuff that we've been seeing in every other shop. I miss the days when the Disney Parks sold really good stuff that people actually wanted to buy and collect!Read more

  • The Future is in the Past

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I like the unique look that Discoveryland has. Unlike the Tomorrowlands in other Disney Parks, this one is both futuristic and old fashioned at the same time. It makes me think of the old time stories of Jules Verne. He was a writer that was very ahead of his time. His books are considered classics now.Read more

  • Discoveryland Topiary

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I always enjoy seeing interesting looking topiaries and Discoveryland had some great ones. While they are not elaborate animals, like I usually see at theme parks, these unusual looking trees fit in perfectly with what I've seen here.Read more

  • Submarine

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

This submarine looks exactly like the one in the old Disney movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I've never seen that movie yet but it has great reviews. I should make the time to watch that film someday.Read more

  • The Nautilus

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

I'm not sure if people can ride on this submarine but I'm hoping that we can. I know that Disneyland in California has a submarine ride but I always thought that they were the only park that had one. It would be great if a submarine attraction was here also. This submarine doesn't seem to be moving so I'm not sure if it's a ride or not.Read more

  • Les Mystères du Nautilus

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Entering through what looks like a lighthouse, were on our way to the Nautilus submarine. Although this looks like a ride queue, we seem to be the only people here so I'm not sure what to expect at this hallway. As always, Disney's attention to detail is incredible!Read more

  • Inside the Nautilus

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

This is what we came to at the end of the corridor. It's not a ride boarding point, as I had expected, just an empty room. It's very well decorated, made up as the inside of the Nautilus submarine but I must admit that I feel a bit let down because this wasn't what I was expecting.Read more

  • Captain Nemo's Piano

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

The Main Salon is the heart of the Nautilus. Books, artifacts, and numerous treasures of the sea are gathered here. The Captain's organ stands on the far side and guests can see Nemo's reflection when staring at the mirror just above the keys.Read more

  • The Giant Squid

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

This giant squid is probably the best, and most exciting, aspect of the Nautilus. It seems to be some sort of 3D projection and looks like it's really outside the window.  As the squid approaches, you can see its beak reaching for the submarine. The creature is then repulsed by an electric zap.Read more

  • The Piano

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Here's another look at Captain Nemo's piano. In this shot the effect of seeing Captain Nemo's face in the mirror can be clearly seen. It's a good effect!

  • The Way Out

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

Although guests may believe they are visiting the submarine seen in the lagoon, the 'underwater tunnel' actually leads them in completely the opposite direction - just outside the public areas of Discoveryland, into a show building hidden by tall green bushes. The winding staircase into the attraction helps to disorient guests so they don't realize this.Read more
