Next up was the float for the Lion King. While this was, admittedly, a great movie, it's now quite old and I think that Disney is resting on it's laurels with this one. Let's see something new in the parades rather than the same old standards.Read more

It's King Louie!

It's great to see King Louie, from the Jungle Book, on the Lion King float. While the Lion King was a great movie, it can't compare to The Jungle Book. That's one of Disney's all time greats! I'd love to see the Jungle Book characters walking around the park meeting guests. Unfortunately, they are very rarely seen outside of the parades.Read more

Captain Hook

The Peter Pan float, featuring Captain Hook and Mr Smee, was one of the best. I really liked that they put Skull Rock on the float. I'm still surprised by how quickly the parade is moving down Main Street. I feel like it's nearly over but it only started around 15 minutes ago. Still, even though it's short, I'm still enjoying it!Read more

Back to Frontierland

The parade ended all too fast and, once it was done, we decided to head back to Frontierland. I wanted to see the Haunted Mansion at night and get a few pictures of it. If it's not too crowded, maybe we can ride this attraction again.Read more

The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion, seen at night, doesn't disappoint. The moody lighting, and bare trees, really look fantastic. There was a short line to get in but Kathy didn't want to wait. I would have liked to see this attraction again but there's still so much to see. The park looks so different at night!Read more

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction seems to be closed already. We haven't seen any carts going down the tracks for a while now. Is it really that close to the parks closing time or do they just shut some of the rides earlier here? It's really a shame if they close BTMR early. Riding this attraction at night is a completely different experience than riding it in the daytime.Read more

And Then, Diaster Struck...

We stopped in one of the shops, to pick up the things we wanted to bring home with us and, shortly after leaving the store, Kathy realized that she didn't have her credit card. We've been hearing so many warnings about pickpockets and, not being able to find her card, she was sure that's what happened. Understandably, she was very upset and started looking frantically through her purse and pockets.Read more

She couldn't find her card in her purse or any of her pockets so we started to retrace all of our steps, watching the ground, desperately hoping that maybe she dropped it and we'd find it on the floor somewhere.Read more

It Isn't Here!

We retraced our steps all the way back to Main Street, the last place that she used the card, but we didn't find it. We even went inside the shop where she used it, asking if the card was perhaps found and turned in. It wasn't. During all this time, Kathy was getting more and more upset, convinced that someone had picked her pocket. I couldn't understand how that might have happened. We're always so careful and, being from New York City, I think that we're more aware of our surroundings than most other people. Still, it can happen to anyone, I suppose. That's not a happy thought.Read more

One Last Chance

Before calling the credit card company to have them cancel the card, we decided to make one last look, taking apart everything. She really didn't want to cancel the credit card because it was the only one that didn't have any foreign transaction fees but, if it was gone, she didn't have any choice. She had me look through her purse while she turned all of her pockets inside out. There were some tense moments of frantic searching but, at last, the card was found! It turned out being inside one of her coat pockets, wrapped up in some cash, making it impossible to see until each bill was unwrapped from the card. We were so happy and relieved that the card was found but, unfortunately, we lost so much time in looking for it.Read more

It's Time to Go

Although the credit card was found, Kathy was still very shaken up so we decided that it was time to leave the park. I was a little disappointed that we wouldn't see Discoveryland at night but I thought that it would better if we left. It's nearly time for the park to close anyway. I think walking around in the Disney Village Marketplace, and a late dinner, would be good for us.Read more

As we walked to the Disney Village Marketplace, I was thinking about how quickly feelings can change. I had such a good time today and thought Disneyland Paris was such a wonderful place but, when I thought that somebody here might have stolen Kathy's credit card, everything suddenly changed. Disneyland Paris seemed like a sinister and dangerous place and all the people around us became evil and suspicious. I'm so happy that her card was found. I much prefer my first impression of Disneyland Paris.Read more

I'd love to spend the night at the Disneyland Hotel instead of riding the train back to Paris later tonight. I'm sure that it's awfully expensive to stay here though. Hopefully we'll stay here one day. This hotel is so beautiful!Read more

The fountain in front of the Disneyland Hotel looks even more beautiful at night. I wanted to stop and get some photos of it but Kathy was very hungry and wanted us to eat. I can understand that. We usually never eat dinner this late at night. She must be starving!Read more

Disney Village

Disney Village is the Disneyland Paris version of Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World. This looks like a great place to have dinner and browse through the many shops. I like this area!

This is one of the first restaurants that we came to in the Disney Village. I liked the nod to former Mickey Mouse Club member Annette Funicello. I saw many of her movies from the 1960s and 1970s. I've always thought that she was very beautiful. It looks a bit crowded and loud for our mood right now. I think we'll look for something a bit more subtle. I do like that architecture though.Read more

Planet Hollywood

Planet Hollywood is an old standby when we go away on vacation. Along with the Hard Rock Cafe, they serve good food that we're used to eating. It's sort of like having a slice of home. Right now, I think that this is just what we need. Planet Hollywood is our choice for dinner.Read more

This Planet Hollywood seems different from the other ones we've visited. Rather than many little alcoves in different rooms, this restaurant seemed to be just one big room with just a handful of movie memorabilia scattered around the walls. I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting to see so much more.Read more

Kathy didn't seem to really care about getting to see all the movie memorabilia and props. I think that the main thing that she wanted to do now was eat. Our meal was good, typical of the fare that Planet Hollywood usually serves. The menu is getting a bit dated though. I think that it would be a good idea to add a few new choices.Read more

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

Say his name three times to call Beetlejuice, the ghost with the most. This costume from the movie Beetlejuice was the only thing that we really got a chance to see up close and, even then, it was as we were leaving. Beetlejuice was standing near the exit so I guess that everyone here gets to see at least one thing. We're feeling a lot better after eating. Let's go see what else is in Disney Village.Read more

The Wild West Show

I'm not sure if this Would West Show was a film, cartoons, or a live show done with the Disney characters. Unfortunately, we won't be able to find out because the theater has already closed for the evening. That's too bad because it looks like it's a fun and enjoyable show. 15 Screens!

The theater, right next door to the Wild West Show, was still open but all of the shows had already started. With 15 screens, including an IMAX screen, this movie house must be huge! Since I used to work in a movie theater, I'm always interested in seeing the theaters in other places. I think that seeing something here would be a real treat!Read more

Souvenir Shopping

The World of Disney store was our next stop. We were able to pick up some of the smaller items that we usually get while traveling. Postcards, magnets and keychains are always good, and inexpensive souvenirs. I wanted to get some plush Disney characters, dressed up in traditional French clothing, but I couldn't find any. The only real items that show France are like what I've shown in this photo. Unfortunately, that's not what I'm looking for. At least I was able to get my King Louie plush. He's not dressed in French clothing but he's so nice that I don't mind. He's not wearing anything, in fact, just like in the Jungle Book movie.Read more

We saw many stores selling plush Disney characters but they were all the nondescript everyday ones, like these. I guess that I'm not going to find any uniquely dressed characters here. At least I got myself a King Louie though. I really like him a lot.Read more

Although similar in idea and presentation, Disney Village is much smaller than Downtown Disney in Orlando. Before long, we'd seen just about everything there was to see here. We didn't make it into every shop, just the ones that interested us, but we saw nearly everything here.Read more
