  • Ready to Leave

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

All to soon it was time for us to leave and head back into Paris. We had such a great time and really want to come back someday. Disneyland Paris is such a wonderful place. I'm so glad that we had a chance to visit.Read more

  • Tired But Happy

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 41 °F

We're on the RER riding back to Paris. I'm so glad that the train is not crowded and we're able to sit down. I'm so tired from all the walking we've done today but feeling so happy. Kathy looks tired also. Hopefully we'll get back to the hotel soon.Read more

  • Time to Change

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We just pulled in to the Nation train station. This is where we'll get off of the RER train and transfer to the Paris Metro. Each station that we pass brings us closer to the hotel.

  • Nation

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

We're on our platform and waiting for the Metro to come and take us home. The station is nearly deserted, because of the late hour, but, I must admit, I feel very safe. I know that Paris has a lot of problems with pickpockets but I don't think that they have much violent crime. I'm guessing about this, since I don't know all of their crime stats, but the city just feels safe to me.Read more

  • Almost There

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

It wasn't that long of a wait for a train to come. We've just passed the Saint-Ambroise station so we're nearly back to the hotel. Just a few more stops to go until our stop, Grands Boulevards.

  • Grands Boulevards

    November 8, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

It's Grands Boulevards! We made it back shortly before midnight so this has been a very full day and night. The hotel is, essentially, right at the subway exit. Right now, we just want to get back to the room and sleep. It's been such a great day and we're looking forward to another wonderful day tomorrow. Good night, Paris!Read more

  • A Late Start

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We slept in today, which is fine while being on vacation, but it means that we're getting off to a late start. I'm of mixed feelings on this. On one hand, we should be relaxing on our vacation and not worry about clocks or schedules but, on the other hand, starting out late means that we're seeing a bit less. While there's still so much in Paris that we want to see I think that we deserve to take it easy occasionally. I'm not surprised that we slept in this morning. Our long day at Disneyland Paris wore us out more than we thought.Read more

  • It's Here!

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We didn't have to wait very long at all before a train pulled into the station. I really like the Paris Metro system. It's very efficient, organized and so clean.

  • On the Metro

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

As we're heading out to get something to eat, a group of people came on to the train and started playing music. I've seen this so many times in New York but this is the first time I've seen it in another country. They sound pretty good! I love the way Kathy is just sitting there and acting like she doesn't see them. So funny!Read more

  • Snacks

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We're in the Chaussée d'Antin metro station waiting to change trains. There are so many of these vending machines scattered around the metro stations but, as tempting as they look, I'm resisting getting anything. We're on our way to have brunch and I wouldn't want to spoil my appetite filling up on snacks. Maybe I'll get something later..Read more

  • Almost There

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

The train we needed to transfer to arrived and we're on our way again. I'm surprised that this train is so crowded at this time of day. Doesn't anyone here go to work? Once again, I didn't get a seat and I have to stand. I don't mind it though. It gives me a chance to look around and see everything in the train. I just hope that I'll be able to sit on out way back to the hotel. By the end of the day my feet and ankles are always so sore due to walking around so much with arthritis. It gets so painful sometimes.Read more

  • Walking

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

After coming out of the metro, it was just a short walk to Angelina's, the tea house that we're going to. This must be a well to do neighborhood because we're passing some fancy designer boutiques. I like this covered walkway. This would come in very handy when it rains.Read more

  • Angelina's

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We're here! We've heard, and read, so much about Angelina's that we simply had to try it. I'm really looking forward to tasting their legendary hot chocolate. I've read that this place can get very busy with lines out the door but, right now, there's no line at all. I'm sure that if we came on the weekend it would be a very different situation though.Read more

  • Angelina's Entrance

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

This is what we saw as we entered Angelina's. It's so beautiful! This place just oozes old world charm and style. I'm already impressed with this place! I can't wait to try their food and drinks.

  • Tasty Treats

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

There's several photos for this entry because all of the treats on display in their entryway look so delicious and perfectly made. I'm guessing that these are for the take away orders the Angelina gets. I have no idea what I'm going to order. So far, everything looks amazing!Read more

  • The Eclair

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

I decided on an Angelina classic, the chocolate éclair. This éclair, according to Angelina, reveals all the intense aromas of chocolate, worked in both the cream filling and the icing. It's a creation for true chocolate lovers!Read more

  • Cheers!

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ 🌧 46 °F

Kathy decided upon a cup of tea and a chocolate croissant. I thought that croissants, being so common in Paris, was something that she could get anywhere and she might want to try something more exotic and fancy but her thinking was that she wanted to try a croissant from the best of the best.Read more

  • Hot Chocolate

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Rather than tea, I went with a cup of the famous Angelina hot chocolate. This has got to be the best hot chocolate I've ever had in my life! It's like drinking a melted candy bar of dark chocolate. So delicious!Read more

  • Can't Get Enough

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Not only did they give me a cup of the hot chocolate but a small pitcher with even more of it. In all, it was around two and a half cups. Even after that, I still wanted more. It's so delicious!

  • French Hot Chocolate Wins

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Angelina is famous for their hot chocolate (le chocolat chaud en Francais), and is often cited as the best hot chocolate in Paris. I must say, French hot chocolate is nothing like what Americans think of as hot chocolate. While American hot chocolate is thin and sweet, punctuated by marshmallows, French hot chocolate is thick and rich and marshmallow free. Now that I've had both, the French variety is far superior to what we have in the States.Read more

  • So Tasty!

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

This Parisian cafe was founded in 1903 and describes itself as a place for “sophistication and indulgence” on its website. It has since expanded to over 30 locations around the world. I'd love to see them open up one in New York City!Read more

  • Is Anything Left?

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We're almost done with our meal at Angelina. I must say, this place definitely lives up to the hype. Everything was so much better than we had expected it to be. Kathy's idea of coming here for a light brunch was such a good idea!Read more

  • Ready to Go

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

This place has been filling up fast since we arrived. I guess that we were the start of the brunch, or lunch, rush. We had such a great time eating here and I don't think that we'll ever forget it. So far, everything about this trip to Paris has been wonderful! We're having such a good time here!Read more

  • Bye, Angelina

    November 9, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Having filled ourselves up with a great meal, we're ready to venture out and see what else Paris has to offer. I'm sure that we'll be walking this food off before very long!
