We're on our platform and waiting for the Metro to come and take us home. The station is nearly deserted, because of the late hour, but, I must admit, I feel very safe. I know that Paris has a lot of problems with pickpockets but I don't think that they have much violent crime. I'm guessing about this, since I don't know all of their crime stats, but the city just feels safe to me.Leia mais

  • Grands Boulevards

    8 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 43 °F

It's Grands Boulevards! We made it back shortly before midnight so this has been a very full day and night. The hotel is, essentially, right at the subway exit. Right now, we just want to get back to the room and sleep. It's been such a great day and we're looking forward to another wonderful day tomorrow. Good night, Paris!Leia mais

  • A Late Start

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We slept in today, which is fine while being on vacation, but it means that we're getting off to a late start. I'm of mixed feelings on this. On one hand, we should be relaxing on our vacation and not worry about clocks or schedules but, on the other hand, starting out late means that we're seeing a bit less. While there's still so much in Paris that we want to see I think that we deserve to take it easy occasionally. I'm not surprised that we slept in this morning. Our long day at Disneyland Paris wore us out more than we thought.Leia mais

  • On the Metro

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

As we're heading out to get something to eat, a group of people came on to the train and started playing music. I've seen this so many times in New York but this is the first time I've seen it in another country. They sound pretty good! I love the way Kathy is just sitting there and acting like she doesn't see them. So funny!Leia mais

  • Snacks

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We're in the Chaussée d'Antin metro station waiting to change trains. There are so many of these vending machines scattered around the metro stations but, as tempting as they look, I'm resisting getting anything. We're on our way to have brunch and I wouldn't want to spoil my appetite filling up on snacks. Maybe I'll get something later..Leia mais

  • Almost There

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

The train we needed to transfer to arrived and we're on our way again. I'm surprised that this train is so crowded at this time of day. Doesn't anyone here go to work? Once again, I didn't get a seat and I have to stand. I don't mind it though. It gives me a chance to look around and see everything in the train. I just hope that I'll be able to sit on out way back to the hotel. By the end of the day my feet and ankles are always so sore due to walking around so much with arthritis. It gets so painful sometimes.Leia mais

  • Walking

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

After coming out of the metro, it was just a short walk to Angelina's, the tea house that we're going to. This must be a well to do neighborhood because we're passing some fancy designer boutiques. I like this covered walkway. This would come in very handy when it rains.Leia mais

  • Angelina's

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We're here! We've heard, and read, so much about Angelina's that we simply had to try it. I'm really looking forward to tasting their legendary hot chocolate. I've read that this place can get very busy with lines out the door but, right now, there's no line at all. I'm sure that if we came on the weekend it would be a very different situation though.Leia mais

  • Tasty Treats

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

There's several photos for this entry because all of the treats on display in their entryway look so delicious and perfectly made. I'm guessing that these are for the take away orders the Angelina gets. I have no idea what I'm going to order. So far, everything looks amazing!Leia mais

  • Cheers!

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ 🌧 46 °F

Kathy decided upon a cup of tea and a chocolate croissant. I thought that croissants, being so common in Paris, was something that she could get anywhere and she might want to try something more exotic and fancy but her thinking was that she wanted to try a croissant from the best of the best.Leia mais

  • French Hot Chocolate Wins

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Angelina is famous for their hot chocolate (le chocolat chaud en Francais), and is often cited as the best hot chocolate in Paris. I must say, French hot chocolate is nothing like what Americans think of as hot chocolate. While American hot chocolate is thin and sweet, punctuated by marshmallows, French hot chocolate is thick and rich and marshmallow free. Now that I've had both, the French variety is far superior to what we have in the States.Leia mais

  • Ready to Go

    9 de novembro de 2017, França ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

This place has been filling up fast since we arrived. I guess that we were the start of the brunch, or lunch, rush. We had such a great time eating here and I don't think that we'll ever forget it. So far, everything about this trip to Paris has been wonderful! We're having such a good time here!Leia mais
