Traffic was heavy on the roads today and the drive to Le Guédeniau was hard in the hot weather.
And then OH 😮 NO! What has happened to our favourite stop over? Just take a look. 👀
Road works and heavy machinery parked in our parking place (how bad is that)?

Airvault

Petite Cité de Caractère (Small City of Character).
Couldn’t resist the road sign for Airvault so we stopped in the local Aires and wandered up to the centre.
The Saturday Market was just about over and the stalls closing so we made our way towards the ancient Church which dominates the Area.
There is a free museum in the town which is worth a walk around with a few exhibits in the Gardens.Leia mais

Le Cormoran Camp Site

When visiting this Island we usually make for this campsite 🏕 close to the sea.
Good facilities including bar/restaurant and swimming pool. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

The best form of transport on the Island is by bicycle 🚲 so today we are going to have a go and take a self guided tour of a couple of tourist hot spots. Namely Ars-enRé port area and Phare Des Balenes.

Malestroit

I think that Malestroit is another one of those “Small Cities of Character” but I’m not sure about that🤔. Anyway it was a pleasant overnight stop on the way home using the free Aire close to the river and only a five minute walk into the centre of town.Leia mais

Villedieu-les-Poêles

Villedieu-les-Poêles is a small town just off the motorway and is part of the Village étape scheme. This means that it must provide services for travellers 🧳 including Tourist info parking and picnic areas plus Hotels, shops etc.

Really feel as if we are heading for home now as we are back on the coast and while here visiting one of the D day museums.This one is on Utah Beach.

Honfleur

Final night stopover of the trip is Honfleur as we make our way back to the tunnel.
This is a huge Aire right on the edge of town. Eleven Euros 💶 a night with electric if you can find any spare connection points.
Saturday morning and the market is in full swing so a quick wander round before heading off.
Made mental note to return here, it is my kind of town. Must be full of history. Old buildings cobble stone streets etc. The only thing missing is one of the Musketeers.Leia mais
