    September 8, 2019 in England ⋅ ☀️ 9 °C

Motorhome loaded including the Bears 🐻, not feeling to good at the moment, I think I am coming down with something. Oh well never mind Let’s get out of here.

  • Plymouth Ferry Port

    September 8, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Made it. Plymouth in just under five Hours. Now on board the ship and trying to feel in the holiday mood. Scooped up a good selection of “meds” to keep me going until We reach the bar!

  • Santander

    September 9, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Mill pond type crossing so arrived safely. Time to disembark and head off. Would have a better idea of where we are going if only I had remembered to take the road map onboard

  • Peso Da Régula

    September 11, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Commonly known just as “Régula” in the Douro valley, where every bit of hill side is given over to grape 🍇 vines. The tasting and purchase of Port here is high on the list of things to do.

  • Tomar

    September 13, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Stumbled upon this town after reading about a very good free Motorhome stop and Whoop Whoop what a place to be for anybody interested in history.
Lots of narrow streets to explore plus a castle and church up the hill.
    Knights Templar no less!

  • Tomar2 The Knights Templar

    September 14, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

A visit to the Former Seat of the Order of the Knights Templar and the Convent of Christ is an absolute must for anyone visiting Tomar so pull on those walking shoes and make the long trek uphill or do the sensible thing and get in a Tuk Tuk for €2.50 a person and then when your visit is over drink beer 🍻 at the Café until another Tuk Tuk happens along.Read more

  • Camping Zambujeira

    September 15, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Very pleasant campsite close to the sea. Just a short bicycle ride to the beach or a slightly longer walk.
Parked in amongst the trees soaking up some of that Portuguese 🌞. It’s almost as good as the Port! 🍷Read more

  • Zambujeira Village

    September 16, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Small coastal village on the West Coast a little bit north of the Algarve.
Plenty of Bars and Restaurants to dive into to escape that midday sun ☀️
Terrapins with nodding heads also available 🐢

  • Evora

    September 18, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Just a one night stop in Evora as we start to head north and home but well worth the drive. A UNESCO world heritage site but then again most of Portugal seems to be. In the centre at the top of the hill stands the remains of the Roman Temple of Evora also known as the Temple of Diana which is close to the huge Cathedral. Take the bike 🚴🏻‍♀️ and get yourself in a tiff 🤔 amongst the cobblestone streets and the one way system.Read more

  • Castelo Mendo

    September 19, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Well what can I say? Looking for another one night free stop on the way north and found Castelo Mendo on the Campercontact app.
Step through the arch into a time long gone where two storey houses used to have the cattle living below their human companions but a quick internet search reveals much more! The narrow streets not built for modern traffic but easy to defend from Spanish troops intent on war. Some of the old walls still exist and the remains of these and the building at the top (I think it was a Chapel) are worth investigating.careful when night falls as the old village must be teaming with ghosts.Read more

  • Camping Don Quijote

    September 20, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Still heading back but stopped for the night at a campsite in Spain near Salamanca.
Nice place by a river with a bicycle 🚴🏻‍♀️ 🚴🏻‍♂️ track leading into town. Lots of British Motorhomes and Caravans here heading to and from the UK 🇬🇧 Nice bar on site selling a good selection of alcohol 🍺Read more

  • Santillana de Mar

    September 21, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Another find through Campercontact. And yet another historic village to explore. Very popular with tourists but well worth taking the time to explore. Lots to see here including museums and no lack of Cafes and restaurants. Wishing we had a bit more time here but we have a Ferry ⛴ to catchRead more
