    October 2, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Oscar the tyre man has told us that we do not need a new tyre and he has fixed the puncture and now returned to the camper park and fitted the wheel and charged €45.00. Pleased with that and we are now on our way but first a spot of lunch in the restaurant down the road called Route Tabernas 66.Read more

  • Birthday Dinner

    October 4, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

So it’s my birthday and a reservation has been made at The Siesta restaurant on the beach. A bit strange but there are some odd looking rock formations across the road from our dinner table that need their picture taken.
Looks like we have an extra guest for dinner tonight as well.

  • Mojacar

    October 10, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

A pleasant surprise in the Spanish hills. Didn’t expect this little town to be so touristy but there are plenty of people from all nationalities enjoying the restaurants and gift shops and now for a bit of deep rooted Almería culture“The Indalo Man”. This Bronze Age Symbol was discovered in the cave of Los Letreros in the Sierra de Maria national park and over time has become a good luck charm. That sounds so good I just had to get one.Read more

  • Amigos de Acampada Campo Alegre

    October 12, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

We are beginning to make our way along the coast now and find ourselves in the above named campsite just thirty five minutes inland from Alicante. What another great find we have here. Large pitches, swimming pool and once again the nicest hosts you could want to meet.
This place is a real rural site set amongst the Olive Groves and approximately fifteen minutes away from the Spanish town of Sax. Not surprisingly it has a Castle.

  • Sax

    October 14, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Had a ride to Sax on our bikes to have a look round and take a look at the castle which as we have discovered is only open at weekends. Not much happening here in what is a Spanish working town with plenty of ex pats wandering around. Discovered an Indian restaurant so in we went for a curry.Read more

  • Roquetes

    October 16, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

After leaving the campsite near Sax the plan was to go to Peniscola but upon arriving we found all the camper parks to be full so we pushed on a bit to the Aire in Roquetes.
This turns out to be a modern stop over that you can stay on free of charge for seventy two hours including electricity if you are lucky enough to get plugged in before somebody else does.
With its close proximity to the Tortosa Via Verde we have been out on the bikes for the afternoon along this fabulous old railway track with great views and lots of tunnels to ride through.

  • Tamarit Beach Club

    October 20, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

We have been here for a few days now so it’s time for another footprint. This site is about one hour south of Barcelona and for me probably the best campsite I have ever stayed on. It has all the facilities you come to expect from a large Spanish site that includes restaurants, cafe, supermarket, beach bar and of course a beach where this year we are swimming in the sea in late October.
It all comes at a price though but we just can’t stay away and this year we have Halloween celebrations as well.
Last morning here we have decide on breakfast in the beach cafe looking out onto the Med.

  • Nomadic valencia Camper Park

    October 22, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Parked up just a short way from Valencia in the Nomadic Camper Park. The reception sells the Valencia tourist card giving us access to the Metro ( station only five minutes walk from the site ) plus buses and discounts on different things you don’t need. Bike routes into the city if you fancy it. Good safe site with helpful staff. Definitely one to return to.Read more

  • Nomadic Valencia Camper Park

    October 23, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

It’s raining big time so it looks like laundry day today. Raining cats and dogs came to mind so I thought that I would look up the meaning of that one. Turns out there are many theories to that one you will have to make mind up.
Not much to do but the Choco Flakes box has saved the day.

  • Valencia Old Town

    October 24, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Nomadic Campers sell the Valencia tourist card. 24 hrs for twenty Euros ( other times and prices available) giving access to trains buses tourist attractions etc. The Metro station is only a five minute walk away so off we went for a ride on the Spanish underground.
A short walk brought us to the very impressive town hall where we knew that there was a museum inside free with the tourist card. But first, people were taking photos of what appeared to be the old telephone exchange so we joined in and grabbed a few of our own, across the Plaza to the Town Hall a large queue was forming at the entrance, thinking this is going to be special we got at the back and waited but it turned out the queue was heaps of kids 👧 on a school outing. That put an end to the idea of the museum but the place is impressive. We soon wandered off to find the world heritage site of La Longa. Tourist card again and spent some time wandering around there instead.

  • Bike Ride to the Beach

    October 26, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

It rained heavy overnight but the weather app reckons today will be a good one and as the day went on it was so.
We took a ride out on the bikes to the resort of Alboraya just north of Valencia and an easy ride along a marked cycle route. We had already decided that we would have Paella Valencia for lunch in keeping with our surroundings. The weather was perfect, bright sunshine but not too hot 🥵. It’s a weekend so fairly busy with both tourists and locals and still people were swimming in the sea.Read more

  • Albarracin

    October 28, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Been here for a couple of days now at Camping Ciudad de Albarracin to visit what is described as the prettiest village in Spain and it is definitely worth the effort to get there but oh 😦 what a difference a day makes as the rains have caught up with us in a big way. Thunder, lightning, the whole works. Never mind as we will sit it out with the heater on. Bacon rolls for lunch 🥪Read more

  • After the Storm

    October 31, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

The storm arrived in the morning of the 29th and lasted throughout the day and into the following morning. Proper crash bang Wallop stuff. Before heading off to Zaragoza we got on the bikes and headed for the small mercado to grab a few bits (all the bacon was gone). Don’t quite understand how the weather can change like it does but the sun was shining so we stopped at one of the hotels to take on some Cappuccino and cake. Unfortunately the carpark across the road was flooded and not everybody got their car out in time. If you look you can see the marks where the water reached the mirrors.Read more

  • Zaragoza Aire

    November 1, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

A reasonably short drive today sees us parked up in the Aire near the university. I had read that it was popular but didn’t quite expect this. It is totally rammed with motorhomes. The aire is full, the overflow piece of land where we are parked is full and there is a long line of motorhomes parked up by the sports centre.
Will catch the tram into the old town tomorrow as it stops just across the road.

Travelled up here from Zaragoza as we steady ourselves for the ferry home. We have a bit of time to use up as we are not leaving Spain until the 20th but the weather seems a bit kinder here so it’s Donostia-San Sebastián old town that is calling now.Read more

    November 15, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

  • The Flysch

    November 17, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

If you happen to be a Geologist then I am sure you will know all about the Flysch. I am not but google has come to the rescue. Formed more than 60 million years ago by the clashing of tetonlc plates below the sea and being pushed up, today in Zumaia and of course other areas we can view these strange rock formations that mainly consist of layers of sandstone, siltstone, mudstone and shaleRead more

Now on board Brittany Ferries ship Sontana. It has already been decked out for Xmas. The blurb tells us it is a greener ship powered by gas but I think it is more to do with the colour of the passengers faces as it crashes and bangs through the heavy sea 🌊Read more
