    Forest bathing

    September 4, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

    Short trip incoming!
Little stay in Forest of Dean which is only an hour away but I've never been.
Started the trip with a visit to Puzzlewood, a magical forest with amazing tree formations. Had a lovely mindful walk taking in the sights, textures and sounds of the forest. There was a challenge to find animals and faces in the trees which we took very seriously!
After a leisurely walk and a picnic we went to the holiday park where we are staying which is called Whitemead. It's like center parcs on a tiny scale with glamping pods, pool, restaurant etc.
As part of our wowcher deal we had a round of crazy golf which we did this afternoon, we were the only people so went round twice.
We then did a gym and swim session and checked into our glamping pod!

  • If you go down to the woods today

    September 5, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Had a cosy morning in the pod, was really cool to see a deer casually wandering outside.
We headed off to the Forest of Dean sculpture trail, unfortunately the weather was horrific so we had a very soggy trudge around, still managed to do a 5 mile walk but we weren't really feeling our best!
Had an afternoon chilling in the pod then did a gym and swim again.
Finished off with some cosy board games and a pub dinner.

  • Littledean Jail

    September 6, 2024 in Wales ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

We woke up to a thunderstorm this morning, good job we were nice and cosy in the pod!
Before leaving the holiday park we had a final swim and sauna, before travelling to Littledean Jail, which I'd seen on Dark Tourist on Netflix, and was quite intrigued to go.
It's basically a museum of curiosities and macabre collections. In reality it was quite overwhelming with whole rooms of newspaper clippings and articles! There were some interesting things but on the whole also lots of really strange and disturbing things. To be honest we couldn't take in all of the newspaper clippings so did skim past some.
Afterwards I was craving a cuppa and cake (as it is my birthday after all!) So we stopped in Monmouth on the way home which was lovely, and had plenty of charity shops! Found a cute tearoom and I managed to find a lemon gf cake which was delicious.
Now on the way home after a short but sweet trip!
